great complexity at a reasonable priceWe're used to spending for good balsamics. We're pleased with the flavor of this product and it's a bargain at this price point.We also tried the organic version which I'm sorry to say is not quite as complex. However, during a family reunion we did a comparison test on caprese salad using fresh garden tomatoes and bufala mozzerella and no one could tell the difference even thought they knew there were two different balsamics. But then when you mix so many ingredients together small differences get lost.Enough to say it's great balsamic that does the job for most things without having to pull the cork on a $175 bottle. We'll continue to buy it.5My favorite.This is my go to balsamic. I go through probably 3 bottles per year. It seems expensive but it s nothing when you figure that it lasts this long. Buy a bottle of this and do a blind tasting with other store balsamics-you will never go back.5Very good balsamicoMost balsamico is just wine vinegar with a little true balsamic blended in and they are worthless. Villa Manodori is a blend of truly old and younger vinegars perfect for cooking or drizzling over gelato. This is not a slad balsamico, using it in a dressing would be a waste of money. Once opened, the bottle lasts a long time quality wise.5It made me into a salad lover!!This was bought for my boyfriend as a gift.I will start by saying I'm not a salad person and I always put store bought salad dressing on the salads when I do actually eat them. Last night we made a salad and put grilled chicken on it. My boyfriend put this balsamic vinegar and Kirkland's Organic olive oil (because it was on the very short list of REAL olive oils out there) on my salad. And then sprinkled a little salt and pepper on it, along with some feta cheese.It was THE BEST salad I have ever had. I mean, I thought about that salad all day at work today!After dinner, I said "well, how does this taste any different from the Trader Joe's Balsamic that we normally buy? He said "It is completely different." And made me taste it. The Villa Manodori is sweet. The Trader Joe's has a vinegar-y flavor.He LOVED the Villa Manodori and so do I. I can't wait to use it again.5Excellent BalsamicThere are countless balsamic vinegars out there, making all kinds of claims about origin, method, aging, and so on, for all different prices. How to choose? Well, if you just want to make standard salad dressing, you can buy a decent balsamic vinegar for a third or maybe even quarter of the cost of this one. But if you want one that you can use by itself in very small quantities, to dip bread in, or drizzle on a lamb chop, or maybe even on vanilla ice cream, and want a sensational taste experience that you just can't get from the products available in the supermarket, this is an excellent choice. This is an intensely flavorful, sweet balsamic vinegar that in my opinion is as good or better than any available in this price range, regardless of what claims are made about how long it's aged or whatnot.5Villa Manodori Balsamic VinegarSweet,thick,great tasting balsamic. You don't need to use very much at all to get great flavor. We have used it on salads, Filet Mignon,and of course for bread dipping. It comes in a slightly larger bottle (8.5 oz) than most of the more expensive balsamic vinegars we have purchased. Low acidity. Nicely packaged in a gift box. We will buy this again!March 14 2012 update.....Just ordered our second bottle of this. First one lasted about 2 1/2 months in our house. I do a lot of cooking and some entertaining, we also eat at home a lot. I was going to try other Balsamic Vinegars Amazon sells, but my husband and myself loved this so much we just couldn't stand not having another bottle in the house!!5DisappointedDisappointed. We have bought this from Williams Sonoma in the past but we re out and wanted it shipped quick and bought on Amazon as to avoid going to the mall. It looks the same but it isn t. It is really watery. Not the same product at all. The one we have purchased in the past (several times) is much thicker and richer.2A great introduction to quality balsamic vinegarsUntil recently I had no idea that balsamic vinegars can be more than the stuff you get at the supermarket. I saw a segment on balsamic vinegar on America's Test Kitchen and that got me interested. I started by getting a bottle of aged Monari Federzoni from the supermarket which was one of their runner-ups (winning product was not available). The Monari Federzoni was perhaps slightly better than the average supermarket balsamic, but still nothing to write home about.I didn't want to spend upwards of $100 to get a very old balsamic. I was looking for the cheapest product that would still give me an idea of what a quality balsamic tastes like. After trying out the Villa Manodori today, I think I hit the mark. Compared to the supermarket stuff, this was much thicker and sweeter. I really enjoyed it, and I think I finally got what all the fuss is about. I'm looking forward to see what the really old ones are like.5Every Drop a Sumptuous TreatMy niece sent me a bottle of this a couple years ago with a note that read, "We are hereby ruining you for any other balsamic vinegar!" Clearly she was right elsewise why would a person spring for this much money on a bottle of vinegar??? Let me put it to you this way. The first day my new bottle arrived I had drops on parmagiano cheese shavings and on strawberries. That night I lay awake until I finally gave in and got a bowl of torn boston lettuce leaves with more Villa Manodori. Who gets out of bed for vinegar???5It's really very goodI have been lucky enough to taste the good stuff (10 year aged Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena) and I've been unlucky enough to taste a whole lot of the not-so-good stuff (supermarket balsamic vinegar), and a few of the ones in the middle (Condimento grade balsamic) and so I have a decently wide range of aceto balsamico experience and I can say that Villa Manodori is very good condimento grade and maybe as good as "real" aceto balsamico tradizionale. It pours like good aceto balsamico - sort of like maple syrup - and it has a very nice color. And the flavor is sweet and sour and the different flavors hit me like a wave as every time I struggle to separate all of the flavors. But it's delicious and a special experience and I am very glad they have priced at the high side of what I'm willing to pay (as opposed to totally out of my reach).5
