Roller Derby Girl APPROVED!I was skeptical about using these with my skates for roller derby but I was surprisingly pleased! They fit in my skates & I leave them in there since it s hard to get it in & out. I put my insole above the plastic base to give my heel some cushion. It s a lot more flexible than it looks and it doesn t hinder my movements at all. I was an in-line skater before going into roller derby so I love that it gave me that stability that my inline skates did before.I highly recommend this for anyone playing roller derby! We protect our wrists, why not our ankles and on the floor is where the chaos happens hahah!After seeing so many people having ankle injuries, I dove in and spent the money on these supports. No, they re not cheap but neither is injuring yourself! 5Good support for meAs an orthopaedic PA and Athletic Trainer, I have seen multiple ankle braces. I, personally, have a severely weakened ankle due to injuries and sequelae from a brain hemorrhage. I have to wear a supportive brace daily. I have been very impressed with this brace. It provides the needed amount of support for me for daily use and is comfortable.Pros: comfortable; easy to adjust; moderate support; lightweightCons: probably not the best option for acute injuries (in my opinion); would not be as effective for high ankle sprains, in my opinion.Recommended. This is a nice low-profile brace that provides a reasonable amount of support. It may not provide the support of a taller hinged brace (ex. - Donjoy Velocity) but is more supportive than other low-profile braces (ex. - Donjoy Pod) 5Sturdy, semi-comfortable, great support, questionable straps...**must wear high socks with these**Update 4: Many months down the road, with many hours of use on them, both of my Ultra Zoom braces are in tip top shape and still working as intended. I have lost weight though, currently at 274, 6'2", play basketball for 2 hours about 4 times a week.Update 3: I tried the Zamst 2 brace because of the very high rating reviews, but I felt it wasn't good compared to the Ultra Zoom. Ultra Zoom has better support, easier on/off applying and has great pivot support. Zamst was lose, didn't provide as good as support and was a big hassle to put on properly. I ended up returning the Zamst and buying a second Ultra Zoom for my left ankle.Update 2: So far in about 5 months of continuous basketball at ~290 pounds, it has definitely helped with everything I needed. In fact, I may order another one for my good ankle (left) which just yesterday I rolled while playing. Great! (sarcasm)Update: So far in about 2 months there have been many times this brace has saved me from an injury. If wearing correctly, you will literally feel when it stops a rolled ankle, and you will thank the people who made this. The brace is holding up extremely well too. There is slight squeaking from sweat/water, but it's unnoticeable if you are playing sports. Do not over tighten, as it will put your foot asleep. Remember, you are also tying your shoes, so keep the foot brace a little lose. That's my advice.-------------------------I am wearing this brace because I rolled my ankle playing basketball and my specialist suggested getting a typical wooden/metal stirrup brace for the healing process. I of course didn't want to go down that route because that's outdated medical technology. So I browsed Amazon and came across this performance/hybrid brace that you can wear in daily or sport conditions. I bought it immediately.When I received the package, it was kind of packed like it was just thrown in the box and taped up. The paper work was old, crinkled, and faded, although the brace was in perfect condition.The brace can be very uncomfortable at first, be sure you wear a high sock for added comfort. Remember, I am putting this brace on as my foot is still swollen from my injury, so my pain can be self caused. But, the brace ends up molding quite well and becoming unnoticeable at times while walking and being active.The plastic is great quality, the material they use for everything else is very well made, the straps are perfectly sturdy for even a big guy like myself. The bottom strap has actually two straps, one on each side, which is genius. Because it allows you to get a even distribution of tension focused on the middle of your foot. However, and this is where I took a star off, the top strap just goes left to right. Why?! This would be the perfect brace if the straps on top (near ankle/shin) were just like the foot straps. Since the top strap only goes from left to right, it makes the brace *slightly* tighter on the left side of your foot, which is noticeable. This not only brings worries of unbalanced support for your right side of your right ankle (in my case), but I am kind of worried about my knee.I am going to test this out much more as I get healed up and ready to play/be active again after my injury. So I will update with more impressions later on in the month.**WARNING** Wear high socks with these, as they say on the warning label/box when you get them. If you don't, the bottom part of the protection will rub against your Achilles tendon. No big deal, but it's a must or it will be extremely uncomfortable.Thanks 5I did spend a good amount of time sleeping in this the first couple ...I have ordered both sizes and frankly found these to be a life saver. I personally thought they fit big, even with a lot of swelling. I am having surgery soon on my ankle, but BEFORE they found the tears I used this instead of the walker boot. This was so much more pleasant around the house and felt it supported me and had no worries about my ankle giving away! On that note be careful as the bottom can be slippery on wood floors and tile. That is its only flaw if you consider that a flaw. I couldn't wear it with tennis shoes but did very well in large boots and clogs. I did spend a good amount of time sleeping in this the first couple of weeks without any problems. The velcro is sturdy and I never felt it was too tight or too loose. If you are on your feet a lot then ,this could give extra reassurance, or even peace of mind if you have a weak ankle! 5Great brace for my chronic painThis review is less than an hour after I put it on. When I figured out how to put it on, relief was instant. The way it fits, when I step down the brace hugs my ankle tighter and it feels like it is reducing the weight on my ankle. It reduces my range of motion enough to keep me from further injuring myself but let's me walk normally. I'm definitely going to get a few more to rotate them and extend the life. It seems like it will last a while. 5Amazing, they work really great.I'm 6'1 210 pounds, shoe size 13, got a sm/med fits perfect. I didn't get this to prevent injury, I purchased this to stabilize my already injured peroneal tendon. I've limped for 3 weeks while using a compression sleeve with very little increase in stability and only some decrease in pain, unless walking for long distance then I have increased pain, and spikes of pain from uneven ground, and my foot would fall asleep with the compression sleeve. I put this brace on last night for a few hours and could feel some immediate stability and pain decrease, I've now worn it for 12 hrs straight, didn't adjust it, didn't tighten or loosen straps, felt almost no pain even walking up/down stairs, even tripped in a hole today, its amazing how well it works. If you need extra stability to prevent or treat injury I would recommend these 5Great BraceYour ankle will not roll. Gel inside for comfort and custom fit. It's expensive, but does exactly what it says. We tried ace bandages and wraps that tied/velcro around the ankle or foot area. No comparison. Looks bulky in photos. It is not. This prevents injury - not help you heal. 5A pain killerI'M in my upper 70's and have suffered severe ankle pains for the last three years. It had turned me into a eating couch potato to the tune of a + of 35 lbs. Could not exercise. I had tried many wraps , little help. I ran across this brace on Amazon and ordered to give it a try. Put it on as directed and nearly all the pain was gone when walking. Just prior to getting this brace I had an M.R.I. Dr. found a torn ligament ,made appointment with foot Dr. . Appt. was scheduled for two weeks later. Ordered brace and have kicked myself regularly for not doing so years ago. Wore brace for a couple of weeks before Dr. visit. Didn't wear brace to appt. Dr. gave cort. shot suggested a brace that was not as good as what I had. No discomfort, fits in all my foot-ware, clearly durable and does the job. Thanks ULTRA ZOOM AND AMAZON. 5Saved the Day.After two sprains and trying a 4 different lace up braces the Ultra Zoom brace has allowed my daughter to continue to play volleyball. She has used her brace for about a year and it still works great. It really does conform to her shoe and ankle. She has not had any additional injuries to her braced ankle. The Ultra zoom is much more comfortable than any of the lace-up braces she used (which used to hurt her foot and cut off circulation to her toes). Unfortunately her other ankle wasn't protected and now she has suffered another ankle injury and we just ordered a second Ultra Zoom so both of her ankles will be protected. Of course she works on strengthening her ankles too. But since she plays volleyball year round there isn't much time for proper healing. Ultra Zoom allows her to continue to play and it gives me peace of mind. This brace is easy to use but you should watch a video/carefully read the instructions the first time you use it. 5Very comfortable and reliable.14 year old daughter plays Middle Blocker on a 15U team and we really wanted her to have some anke support. After reading reviews of other braces and the issues others are having with the bottom cross bar breaking I decided to go with these. I'm so glad I did. They have held up very well and after a couple practices she never even noticed she was wearing them they were so comfortable. Even after long tournaments with 10 games in a day she never had any issues with them rubbing or being uncomfortable.The only issue we have had is they started squeaking when she walked. :) I took a little dab of lubricant and it resolved that issue. The squeaking wasn't loud but it was an easy fix so we went ahead and fixed it. Have been using these for about 9 months now.****Update****Have had these for 3 years now playing Volleyball pretty much all year around with Club, USAV, and School ball and they are still going strong. I did buy a 3rd one last year to have on hand in the event one of them broke during a tournament so we wouldn't have to worry about her while we waited on us ordering one but so far we haven't needed it. She plays Middle and on the Pin and she had come down on peoples feet who come under the net and has yet to have an injury. She come down hard on the side of a foot once and she said she was worried but she wasn't hurt and she even admitted if she didn't have an ankle brace on she thinks she would have broken her ankle. Well worth it.. 5
