perfect for tendonitis or DeQuervain's!!i have DeQuervain's in right hand. my usual brace for flare ups was not working this time. i tried this brace at a reasonable cost and it is the best. easy to adjust and keeps me from using my thumb. i am right handed and i never realized how much i used my thumb. i had to adjust the metal bars for my wrist (not all wrists are the same) and it is great. the pain subsides quickly after putting this on. it has only been a week but i am seeing a lot of improvement in my wrist. Note: i did have to cut some length from the straps as they were really long. 5It is helping!Have been having pain in thumb and hand, from over-doing things. Have had tendonitis in the past so thought I would try this brace. It really has made a difference. Wearing this brace, definitely keeps you from using your thumb. This is great for people like me, who refuse to take it easy and let things heal. 5Thumb and Wrist SupportI purchased this with the advice of my Occupational Therapist. For me, the brace fits nicely. The thumb spica gives my thumb good support which allows me to still use my hand without over stressing the tendon. This combination of wrist and thumb support has helped to give my arm relief and rest in between sleep, daily activities and therapy to regain strength and heal tendons. I would certainly recommend this product under the direction of an OT/P or doctor. 5Child-sized, not as picturedThis brace is absolutely tiny--nowhere near the size pictured. It is sized for a small child, not even for a small adult. You can see that the thumb seam actually abuts the metal support (just above the lines labeled A)--very different from the picture that shows a (necessary) fabric spacing between them. The width of the piece is clearly insufficient--you can see at B that the part that is supposed to be on the back of my hand doesn't even reach to the end of the front. Point C is supposed to be where it wraps around the end of my hand and it is only halfway across. You can see in the second picture that the width of the palm section is only 2 inches, far smaller than an adult's hand. [edit: sigh, I guess you can't actually see the labels. The start of the tape measure in the second photo is placed where the side (blade) of the hand ought to be; the 2-inch mark is where the palm ends/thumb starts. It truly is sized for a 2" wide palm] 1so his doctor recommended a hand/thumb splintMy husband was given the diagnose of De Quervain's Tenosinovitis on his right hand, so his doctor recommended a hand/thumb splint. We found this on Amazon and ordered it. After using it for over a week now, my husband has found some relief in this brace since it helps stabilize his thumb and minimize movement. He wears it almost all day and to sleep at night. The brace has significantly improved his quality of life because without the brace, he wouldn't be able to perform his daily activities without a lot of extreme pain. My husband highly recommends this brace if you're suffering from De Quervain's Tenosinovitis. 5Did not work for me!I have been trying diffrent wrist braces with thumb spica for my very painful De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. I was looking for a longer wrist brace like this one for sleeping. This might be a good brace for some folks, but for me it caused me more pain no matter how I positioned it! The metal support hits me right where the pain is and has no padding at that spot! Ouch! I just started the process to return it and I see that I am getting charged a restocking fee of $1.60 which sort of adds insult to injury. I am not impressed by this seller, Massage Importer, Inc., for doing that! 1Not a great brace. Uncomfortable and has sharp straps.This is not a great brace. It feels very cheaply made. The velcro straps have very sharp edges and the excess strap just flaps all around. I was worried it would give me paper cuts. But the biggest issue was that the metal support inside it would dig into my wrist and hurt. I ended up using Mueller brand thumb/wrist stabilizer instead, which has fabric that is MUCH softer and it is way more comfortable. It's a shame, because this one seems to be designed with greater wrist stabilizing in mind as it's longer than other braces I'm seeing, but in practice, it just didn't work for me. I'll perhaps try it again, and if my experience with it improves, I'll amend my review. 2This is a great brace for those who suffer from DeQuervain's TenosynovitisThis is a great brace for those who suffer from DeQuervain's Tenosynovitis. I was in such an extreme amount of pain in my left hand from repetitive motion of ripping paper (for my job) that I had to find some relief. In addition to physical therapy and taking OTC meds, this brace has helped tremendously in keeping my wrist and thumb stabilized. It allows for comfortable stabilization but does not hinder the use of the 4 other fingers. As my doctor explained it, you need support in front of and behind the injuried area. I initially had a shorter brace on which did nothing. This item features 3 adjustable velcro straps. I trimmed the ends of the straps once I found a comfortable fit and didn't need the excess hanging off grabbing on clothes or just being in the way. For me personally the thumb hole was a bit large, but I simply tightened the strap a little more and made it work. My only drawback is that the velcro on the thumb area tends to scratch me when I'm putting on a shirt, pulling up pants / socks, etc. I'll survive those minor imperfections, especially since this brace has really helped me stop over-using my wrist & thumb and give them a chance to heal. I HIGHLY recommend this product. 5You get what you pay forIt immobilizes your thumb, for the most part. I m not sure if it s supposed to be this way, or my hand is just too small, but I have a huge range of motion still in both my hand and thumb.I wore this for a few days, but it didn t seem to be doing anything for me but actually making my thumb hurt worse, and it dug into my thumb and hand in certain places. I had to wear a glove underneath it to help with the digging in. It needs some kind of foam padding or something inside, and the straps need to be much shorter. 2Works greatI ordered this brace for DeQiervains. It works great. I did have to remove the metal piece going up the side as I could not get it molded correctly and it was hurting my thumb. It still gives great support and helps with the pain. I wear it all day and only take it off to shower or when sleeping. I do wear it at night if the pain gets bad though. The price is great too. Doctors office wanted $267 for the same thing. 5
