This ice pack is completely perfect. It covers both sides of my lower & mid back area thoroughly and stays cold for a completely sufficient amount of time. I lay flat on my back on the floor or in bed and use it several times a day and at night. I also use it when I'm doing my at home physical therapy exercises. I'm being allowed to work at home, so I can work in bed sitting up using my laptop tray with the pack wrapped around my back. The product is really helping me heal much faster. Would buy for this seller again! 5Terrific Invention!I really like this Ice wrap! I over stretched my femoral nerve while doing yoga, which causes shooting pains down the front of my thigh and the side of my hip. It stays in place pretty well while doing the dishes and other brief chores. I probably wouldn't try walking the dog in it though...The gel pack is pretty thick so I also don't use it while sitting. It's perfect for laying on the sofa and watching tv. I was a little worried at first because I'm a petite female about 4'10. I was afraid the straps wouldn't be adjustable down to my size. No worries I was able to wrap the strap that goes around thethigh several times enough for me to get the Wrap to stay in place. 5Very versitile and covers a large areaI had a hip replacement and need to use ice to keep my swelling and pain reduced. It has been hard to find a single resuable compress that is large enough to cover the top of my thigh and 8 inch incision. Even in the hospital i needed to use two ice packs to cover the affected area and then keeping them where i wanted them was impossible. I found this gel pack on Amazon and am thrilled that it is wide enough to cover my entire thigh, even down the side of my hip and up to the top of my incision which is just below my waist. The cover that comes with the gel pack has elastic straps that are long enough to wrap around my waist and can loop around my leg... with velcro at the ends that hold the compress securely against my leg and stays right where i want it. I can move around easily (laying or walking) with the gel pack on, it doesn t shift as i move. This gel pad/cover combination has given me great relief and is contributing to my fast recovery. It exceeds my expectations. Well worth the price. I recommend this product very highly.I am adding this comment, i just read several bad reviews and their main objections were the fact that the icy cold does not last 2 hours and the length of the straps. My understanding is that ice packs should not to be applied for more than 20 minutes to avoid frostbite, so since i followed my doctor s directions i had no issue with the duration of the gel pack icy-state. It was more than adequate for my purpose and there were plenty of ice crystals in the pad after i returned it to the freezer when i was done. Regarding the petite person who could not wrap the straps around her leg. I can tell you that i am not petite but normal a size 10. I had to wrap the straps around my thigh TWICE they were so long and the strap i used around my waist was more than sufficient to fit; keep in mind, the straps are elastic so they could have been longer. 5Works great to wrap around the entire knee for osteoarthritisI love this gel wrap. It is large like the ones used by the professional physical therapists. I have osteoarthritis of the knee and was given an gel wrap from my orthopedic doctor that had a hole where the knee cap is and wrapped around the knee. However, I wanted something that would even cover the knee cap. This is perfect. I wrap it around and it ices my entire arthritic knee. Also good for bursitis of the knee. The Velcro straps are very long and would enable you to use this pad on your back or many other areas of your body. I realize it also can be used for heat, but I bought this only for the cold wrap function. 5Easy to use and effectiveI've accumulated a number of ice packs over the years from knee osteoarthritis thru a replacement as well as lower back issues. This is the only product I bought a 2nd one of. It wraps around the knee or body well and it stays on while walking around. Also, the ability to heat is helpful. As someone else pointed out it doesn't heat evenly in a microwave, but that's not real important for me when just trying to deliver heat to an area. 5Very nice size.The only reason I didn't give this a 5 is that it has to be frozen perfectly flat otherwise it's lumpy for the first 5-10 minutes, which if it's going on a surgical incision site could be uncomfortable.However, the size is great for painful backs or for post op relief of larger areas like hips or breasts.The case is very nice and the straps can be wound around themselves and secured when not in use. I haven't tried using the straps but I can see how they'd be handy.Maybe a little pricey when frozen veggies could do the job but for me it was worth the money. 4Love this heat packI've only used it as a heating pad so far, but it's great. It covers my mid and lower back and provides comforting heat. It's easy to heat up and reheat. It's a good thickness that's easy to lean back up against in my reclining chair. 5Fantastic for icing/compressing big muscle groups. Doesn't contract heat via the microwave well.I purchased one of these ice packs and enjoyed using it for icing my hamstrings so much that I purchased another. It's easy to strap the pack onto one's leg using the velcro straps and it stays very cold for at least 30 minutes after having been in the freezer for the recommended two hours. In addition, the velcro straps can be wrapped multiple times around your leg, arm, or waist which allows the pack to act as a compression wrap. This dramatically reduced my recovery time from a double hamstring pull once I paired it with compression wraps which I wasn't icing.The only complaint I have with this product is its ability to act as a heating pack if you microwave it. I carefully followed the instructions on the back of the gel pack and found that when using an average strength microwave, the pack would not heat up uniformly and I would have to continually flip and fold the gel pack in continuous head cycles to get the gel to an adequate temperature. Even after long periods of microwaving the pack, it never heated up to a uniform temperature which made it less effective in heating my leg. One section of the pack was super hot while another was only lukewarm.This heating problem would likely be solved by heating it in a pot of boiling water which I plan on doing in the future. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to those looking for ice big muscle groups. The fact it can act as a heat pack (even if not a great one) is more of a bonus in my mind since its cooling and compression utility is so great. 4Using after hip replacement and best of a few tries.Using after hip replacement. Two major advantages over many options: fairly large area and not too thick. (After a hip replacement you feel like you are sitting on a baseball.) The pack stays cold enough for 20+ minutes, which is recommended time per application. The trade off on time versus comfort greatly favors the comfort of this pack. The straps are more useful than I expected.
