Temporary ReliefUpdate: Sadly, this is going down to a 2 star review after previously giving it a 5. I wasn't lying. The first few days felt fantastic. Until I did ANY amount of actual walking through the course of the day. Then I was right back where I started by noon. I think this is designed to be an infrequent use item or something, because it felt like it over extended my foot after using it more than a few days. So it's back to the cortisone shots for me. *sigh*LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!!! I have gotten the cortisone shots in the past which work well for me, and I do the exercises but they never seem to help. A new doctor wasn't as careful as he should have been with my last shot and it only affected half of my foot which then doubly aggravated the rest of the foot, compounding my pain with no relief in sight because they have to wait at least 3 months between shots to avoid some very serious side effects. At the suggestion of a shoe salesperson, I decided to give these a try since the store didn't have the larger calf size. Two nights of this sock, I'm no longer crippled when I get up in the morning and life is good! I will continue to use it and see if I no longer need the shots. I hope so. 2IT WORKS - GREATLY LESSENED MY PLANTAR FASCIITIS SYMPTOMSBeen using this for a few weeks now and the biggest plus is that when I first step on my foot with plantar fasciitis in the morning, the pain is almost completely gone. Previously, before using the sock, I dreaded stepping on my afflicted foot because the pain was agonizing. Now, the pain is either completely gone in the morning or reduced to a dull annoyance that is completely bearable.Would have given this five stars but the velcro sometimes gets caught in my blanket when I move around in my sleep, which wakes me up. Also, because the strap fits over the first few toes, my toes sometimes feel cramped in the sock. This is greatly reduced by making sure the strap is centered over your toes - sometimes it wants to slide over to the big toe.PLUSES:Plantar Fasciitis pain GREATLY REDUCEDMINUSES:CostlySometimes gets caught in my blanketStrap occasionally slips over my big toe and squishes them a bit - slightly uncomfortableStill HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for alleviating plantar fasciitis symptoms 4Can cause some toe pain.I purchased this after my Futuro night splint had a habit of slipping off or just not providing enough tension to keep my ankle extended. I wore it by itself and while it helped to relieve my foot pain, it woke me up several times a night with shooting pains in my toes, mainly the big toe, until I would start removing it halfway through the night. I switched back to my Futuro and was having the same issues as before so I decided to fit them both together. It was a great ideal. The Strassburg sock gives just enough support to prevent me from pushing my foot into a straight position in my sleep while the Futuro splint keeps the pressure off my toes by lifting from the ball of my foot, as well. I'm docking the 1 star because of the pain it caused in my toes. 4Good for UNNA-BOOTS, Sprain ANKLES, Doesn't Interfere with CirculationFor Plantar Fasciitis Solution. I was recommend by my Physical Therapist that this sock is very helpful for the stretching of the tendons that are not so flexible especially at night. It's unique patented design has been trusted by Podiatrists, and Physical Therapists for over 20 years. The Strassburg sock gently holds the toes in place, allowing the foot to flex naturally. This places tension on the Plantar Fascia with out uncomfortably squeezing or stretching the toes and placing unnecessary tension on the calf. It feels awkward at first but the more you wear it to bed the better you feel more normal in your walking. Its a Medical Proven Effective. 4Fits my 12EE foot..., and it helpsStrassburg Sock Large (16-21 in.calf)I'm 6/3 and 260 pounds and wear 12EE shoes, with 16" calves. This sock fits me just fine.My Chiropractor recommended this product.Based on another review and a product inspection, my wife added additional stitching where the toe strap connects. If you have access to a sewing machine, you should do the same to prolong sock life. Hand sewing is probably just as good. Since reinforcement of a new product shouldn't be necessary, it gets 4 stars. With reinforcement, it still looks fine after wearing it a couple of dozen times.I only wear it for 2 hours at a time, while lying down. It's not particularly pleasant to wear and any more than that and it feels like my foot is in a straight jacket, with my toes becoming numb -- this, after adjusting it per instructions. No one said this thing is a joy to wear. It's purpose is to stretch the fasciitis tendon to provide relief, which it does. This sock seems to help my plantar fasciitis, but it's hard to tell specifically because of the things being done:- Chiropractor uses ultra-sound once per week, a strenuous "message" to breakup adhesions, and applies Rock Tape to support my arch- Set the bottom of my foot on an ice bag once a day for 15 minutes and roll foot on a wooden roller designed for that purpose.- Wear high-quality inserts in all shoes- Limit walking in bare feet, using high-quality arch-supporting sandals around the house.- Wear the Strassburg sock about 2 hours per day when sleeping.- Futuro Comfort Lift Ankle Support (large) 4It worked!!!After 9+ months of foot pain misery, I'm finally able to walk without excruciating pain in my feet. The pain was so bad it radiated from my toes to my calves and sometimes on the outside of my feet...both feet!!! Ortho pads, new shoes, exercises, etc. didn't give me relief. Finally, a chiropractor friend gave me a Strassburg sock that I switched from one foot to the next each night. I felt it helped a bit but couldn't really tell until I wore it 3 nights in a row on my left foot. It was amazing.I ended up buying two so I can wear them on both feet every night. I bought the size up because the 16" was too snug and left a red itchy rash on my calves. Since wearing these for a week, and after finally getting used to wearing them all night, I've had 5 mornings of walking downstairs normally instead of one step at a time and holding onto railings & walls. I do still have some pain through-out the day but nothing like before! Im hopeful that'll go away with time.Tip 1: they shouldn't hurt! If it hurts, you need a larger size or to lessen one of the straps.Tip 2: give them time to work. I took mine off in the middle of the night for the first 3 nights. It won't work if you don't wear it. 5and even a stocking too small can be painful, I did not want to risk the regular ...The sock is too long for me and the foot is very wide. I ordered the Large size because I wear a size 40 shoe, and even a stocking too small can be painful, I did not want to risk the regular size to be too small as I also have rather long legs. I think they should also put the lenght of the sock on the package , but I will not be returning it, because the pain in my right foot is excruciating, and I have been waiting 3 weeks for the sock to arrive, so I have been wearing it for 2 nights. Have not felt any relief yet. 3Exactly what I'd imaginedI've had plantar fasciitis for years. Painful and persistent, definitely impacting my life.Night splits are a standard treatment option, so I got one a few years ago. I call it "the boot." It's hard, bulky, and uncomfortable. I'm a sound sleeper - I couldn't make it a single night without taking it off in my sleep. (I'd just wake up in the morning and find it on the floor.)This splint stays on all night and isn't uncomfortable or bothersome at all. Finally! I definitely think it's helped my plantar fasciitis, and I am buying a second so that I don't have to alternate between my feet at night.I started out slowly. Just getting used to wearing it first, without putting much of a stretch onto the adjustable strap. I slowly increased the stretch each night. I think that adjustment time helped. As others have said, it does slip down a little at night, but only a inch or so down my calf. Not a big problem for me. Also, it does bend back your toes a bit, but that's intentional - an effective way to stretch the fascia. Plus you can control how much it pulls back if you think it's too much.Oh and make sure to measure your calves. Some people complained on the regular sized ones that it was too tight - they probably just bought the wrong size. 5So much improvement after 1 night useI just received this over the weekend and wore it last night for the first time. I am happy to share I woke up completely pain free this morning! I have been suffering from plantar fasciitis pain for months. I am so grateful this helped. I will continue to use it for at least 6-8 weeks so that hopefully my pain is gone for good without requiring furfuther or more aggressive treatment. I wish I had known about this sock months ago. Highly recommend. 5Keeps foot in good position while sleepinggood product...I do not like to sleep with socks on period, so it has taken some time for me to adjust to this sock at night, but does keep my foot in correct position while sleeping...should have purchased 2 because my other foot has plantar fasciitis also 5
