Great, accurate scaleThis is a great scale.It's not packed with endless features like bone density, body fat measurement, bluetooth, wifi, gigabit ethernet, mp3 player, 128gb ssd, cordless drill, 12-way power seats, or granite countertops.The tanita HD351 measures weight, and that is all it does. And it does it well. Readings are quick, accurate, and repeatable. The memory feature is a nice extra, but i don't need it.Solidly built, unlike most other electronic scales I've used. 5Five years later, still going strongI purchased this scale five years ago and it's still working fine. I weigh myself a few times a week, and recently I weigh my cat every week or so too (obviously while holding him) because he's got health issues. The scale is very accurate - it's only a 6.2 pound cat (most weeks) so any inaccuracy would be quite noticeable. The multiple memory settings are nice; #1 is assigned to me so I can always see what I weighed last time even if others have weighed themselves in the meantime.I thought about the scale this week because it started giving an error message; I replaced the batteries and still got the message, so I thought the scale might have finally died. But it was fine a few hours later. There was visible ice on one of the batteries so I'm guessing it had to thaw out to make contact. :-) I think I've only replaced the batteries two or three times in five years! 5Awesome accurate scale. Exactly what I was looking for...This scale is exactly what I was expecting. Did a ton of research, checked out the reviews here and decided this is what I wanted. It is a little more expensive than some out there but it is worth it in my opinion. I like the memory feature, which it has 5 individual spots to remember your last weigh in. I don't think the wife is too happy with it though. She doesn't want me to know her weight. LOLACCURATE. I get on the scale, get off, reweigh, and it gives me the same weight to the tenth of a pound. I've read reviews on other scales and they are all over the place. At this price point, don't think you can beat it for consistency.Doesn't have bluetooth or all that other BS like BMI,etc, that really is questionable IMO anyway. Just tells you how much you weigh. All I need. HIghly recommend. 5Very Functional and Accurate ScaleThe scale has five buttons along the edge. You tap a button with your toe and the button number comes on the screen for a couple seconds. Then the screen goes to 0.0 on the large numbers and your previous weight on the smaller numbers below that. You step on the scale and it shows your current weight. The next time you use it, that number will show as your previous weight. It takes a couple seconds for the screen to clear and be ready for the next weighing. You can use the five buttons for five different people. Or if you want, you can use more than one button for yourself. Say, one for "morning weight" and one for "evening weight."The scale has a large surface to stand on. More than a foot square. But it's also very thin, so cabinet doors will open over it, etc. It's very accurate. I put a 20 lb. dumbell on it and it said 20.0. Then I weighed myself while holding two 20 lb. dumbells. I weighed exactly 40.0 lbs more than when I wasn't holding the dumbells. Good enough.This is just what I was looking for... a no nonsense, accurate scale that remembers my previous weight. I like it. 5Excellent scale - highly recommended!Tanita HD-351 Digital Scale.So far this scale has proven to be highly accurate and very repeatable. The build quality is excellent, and far exceeds that of a Detecto SlimPro scale (which costs almost twice as much) that I returned due to its overall low quality and mostly unreadable display. The display on the Tanita is a bit smaller than I'd like, but it is a high quality LCD with very high contrast. The "verification" beeps that are used to indicate power-on, ready-to-weigh, and weighing-completed, are super useful - especially if you intend to stoop down or step off to more closely look at the display. This scale is also one of the very few available that does not use any sort of "trickery" when calculating the Current Weight - it simply shows you the true measured weight, even if it is slightly different than the Previous Weight (even if the last measurement was taken just 30 seconds prior). This is the same way that very expensive professional scales operate. So this scale gets my highest recommendation and represents a great value! 5Exactly What I Hoped It Would BeI spent a lot of time deciding which scale to order. I'm a runner and have been trying to steadily lose weight to get my personal record in a 5k and 10k. In order to do that, I'm trying to gradually get down to a running weight that will help me shave off seconds on my PR. In any event, this Tanita scale won me over because I read multiple reviews on reputable sites about how accurate but also, perhaps more importantly, how precise this scale is.Here's what I like about this scale:PROS:1) Super accurate and precise2) Very good looking white color and design (this mattered more for my wife than for me)3) Made by a manufacturer with a strong reputationHere's what I don't love, but can live with:CON1) All weight measurements are recorded (there is no option to weigh yourself and not record it- this would be useful for people who don't want the next person to step on the scale know what their weight is)I've used this scale for the past 2 weeks and I can tell that it is spot on. My old scale was just terrible; it was all over the place. Not having a precise scale can really sap your motivation, especially when you are working out hard and being vigilant with your diet. This scale is always right on. For example, if I drink a bunch of water or use the restroom, the scale adjusts accordingly and it changes in increments of .2 lbs.I almost ordered the EatSmart Digital Precision scale because it was cheaper and had tons of positive reviews. What ultimately swayed me to order this scale was reputation of the maker (Tanita). Because Tanita makes commercial scales in doctors' offices, I figured that the precision and accuracy of this scale was worth the extra $. I almost splurged and got the Health-o-meter 349KLX 2-piece scale, but figured that our little guy would probably tamper with the attached piece and break it. This scale was right in the middle of those two scales pricewise and I am very, very happy with the purchase. 5Best Scale I've Ever OwnedScale is large, but not that heavy. Very accurate. I love the feature that shows the previous weight and the current weight (a little larger) at the same time. I also like that it can track five different people. Absolutely great scale!! 5The Only Scale I've Found That Doesn't Fake Repeatability by Remembering Your Previous WeightI've now tried about ten different bathroom scales. They all had the same problem. Weigh yourself, pick up something weighing 0.4 pounds, weigh yourself again -- and get the EXACT same weight. All those other scales memorized the prior weight and just repeated it (from memory) rather than showing the current weight. Unless the weight difference was greater than 0.5 pounds, they all just repeated the prior weight.This is the only scale I've found that doesn't try to fake repeatability by remembering your previous weight. All the other scales I've tested try to cheat on repeatability testing (kind of like the way Volkswagen cheated on emissions testing).This is the ONLY scale I've found that gives an honest weight every time you step on the scale. This is the only scale I've found that actually lets you measure changes as small as 0.2 ounces. It's on the expensive side, but worth every penny. 5Lost 2 stars for non-transparencyI have used a Chinese made Tanita scale for the past 6 years. On that scale, it says on the back in all capital letters "MADE IN CHINA".I'm a firm believer in buying quality over quantity. While in the product description for this scale it is mentioned clearly that the scale is made in Japan, there is absolutely no mention of that on the box, or on the scale itself. Believe me, I've searched the scale and box twice, and there really is nothing mentioned. I find it extremely suspicious that they have not put this on their product. When it comes to a company's products, there should be no issue to at least write where the product was made. On top of that, this scale gave me the same reading as the Chinese made scale by the same company. Overall, I can't help but feel disappointed. I thought Tanita was more transparent than this. 3Finally an accurate scale!I've despaired for years over finding an accurate digital scale. I always read all of the reviews, buy the one that sounds the most accurate, and then step on the scale a couple times, a few minutes apart, and get different readings! This is a huge pet peeve for me, especially when I'm dieting and care about that fraction of a pound!I've been through a lot of scales, and this is the best digital scale I've found for consistently getting the same numbers if I step on and off the scale. And if I get off the scale and put on underwear, my weight goes up .2 pounds, as would be expected. It gives me a confidence in the results the scale is reporting that I haven't had in any other scale.A few other details:-You do have a to hit a button with your toe to turn it on - it's not one that turns on and takes a reading as soon as you step on the scale.-It does record a "history" for five different people (there are five buttons to hit with your toe, so each person gets a button), but it only shows you the weight from the last time you weighed yourself - so if you weigh yourself every day, it doesn't give you much of a history. If you were really organized and only using the scale yourself, you could set a different button for different time gaps (i.e., use button 1 for daily weighings, button 2 for weekly, button 3 for monthly).-This is not a smart scale - no connection to your phone.-The scale itself is very large and sturdy feeling - it could definitely handle large peopleThis is definitely the most expensive digital scale I've ever purchased, but I'm very happy with it, and certainly recommend it! 5
