Long-lasting flavor in a xylitol gumI've tried five flavors of Spry gum: peppermint, spearmint, green tea, fresh fruit, and cinnamon. Cinnamon is by far my favorite. The flavor lasts for longer than any of the other Spry flavors. The warming effect of cinnamon oil also offsets the cooling effect of xylitol, making it not feel as strange in the mouth.I really like that the gum is flavored with xylitol. Unlike some brands that advertise that they contain xylitol, Spry actually uses it as their only sweetener. Most sugarless gums make me sick, as I can't handle sorbitol and maltitol well. It's great that I can chew this without having intestinal problems.5My dental hygienist recommended this gum to me because I have dry mouth ...My dental hygienist recommended this gum to me because I have dry mouth issues. She told me the Xylitol ingredient helps to produce saliva which in turn helps to prevent plaque buildup which helps keep your teeth healthier. I am currently in dental hygiene school and thus have recently learned the benefits of xylitol. The reason this is so good is that it is a natural sweetener that tricks bacteria into thinking it's regular sugar. When bacteria ingest it they have no way to digest it, which results in death of the bacteria and therefore lowers your risk for cavities when used daily.Now for anyone who has TMJ issues (if you don't have TMJ, then you don't have to bother reading this one paragraph) it is recommended that you not chew gum at all. I myself am one of these people. Whenever I chew gum my jaw ends up hurting for days. However, I spoke with the dentist at my college about this issue and he actually recommends to continue chewing xyliotol gum but to only chew for 5 minutes maximum, particularity after sugary snacks only. For myself, this seems to work. If I eat something high in sugar and chew Spry gum for only 5 minutes afterward, it'll help get the xyliotol in my mouth to fight off cavity causing bacteria but won't be long enough to cause me pain in my jaw.Overall, if you're one who gets cavities often, try Spry gum!5Sad to see ARTIFICIAL flavoringThis gum tastes great, but I'm very disappointed to have JUST discovered (1/4 of the way through the 600 piece canister) to find that it has ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING in it... especially because we've been letting our 3 year old chew it constantly! We like the dental health benefits of Xylitol... I am going to contact the manufacturer with my feedback about the gum. I just feel really stupid that I did not review the ingredients closer before committing to such a HUGE quantity. The GF, NON-GMO, etc advertising kind of gave my a false sense of security that it was also All Natural. This is not the sellers fault, I'm just disappointed in the product.2
