and to hold books at a comfortable distance. I am having to learn to carry ...The spectacles arrived quickly and so far they have worked perfectly. They sit securely on my nose while I look at my cell phone or while I am doing my job and having to read from various books and type written programs. I just had cataract surgery on both eyes and had toric lens implants which have given me my long distance sight back but has limited my near sight. (Everything from my outstretched hands back to my face is blurry. So I wear +1.50 readers to see my computer and these +3.00 Nose glasses to read my cell phone, see images in my digital camera after snapping photographs, and to hold books at a comfortable distance. I am having to learn to carry the glasses with me and wear my +1.50 readers but I guess you can teach and old...well middle age...dog new tricks!5Better lens than others but they fall off my broad afroamerica nose.I have bought a different type of glasses like this, therefore I have trial and error experience. The GoodExcellent quality for the price. They have not scratched like other types. No parts have fallen off either. These are just quick reading situations. The BadThe springy latch causes the glasses to fall out. I have lost a pair. Not ideal for activity such as computer readingThe UglyThey fall off my broad afroamerica nose. I constantly adjust them to push they down on my nose2Super thin, elegant case. Arrives a week faster than it says.I downgraded as they really don't stay in place long enough even for the menu.OLD REVIEW:Remember: Pince Nez means Pinch the Nose. This is meant to be stable by pinching and it's not meant to be worn for any extended time. It is meant to help you read a menu, an item at the supermarket, something on the run, for a little while. And for this, it is excellent! Stays firmly in place even when you are poring over a book or a menu. [not so much after some use]They are also super cute. Finally, they are super thin! Fit even in a narrow wallet, take up minimal space. Look at the picture. I ve put a Starbucks card next to the wallet so that people can see its width. You can barely see the glasses. It's the lack of arms that makes this super thin, so you need to decide what tradeoff you want. I want it taking zero space in my wallet and this is my best bet. Even collapsing arms would double the width. But the case is very firm but also very elegant, stainless on one side, faux tortoise on the other. A great buy, but buy a half point higher than normal. Will make reading easier. Finally, it gave me window of 9/20-10/5 and it was delivered 9/13.3Good lenses - Loose screwsI've used a lot of readers over the years, and I particularly like the pince nez style for its small size and ability to carry in pocket or wallet without adding too much additional bulk to clothes and pockets.I used to use the $1 ReaderRescue ones, but they inevitably break after a few weeks, so in the long run it's not cheap. Decided to try spending a bit more in hopes of getting something that would last. The good: I've had them for several weeks and keep them in my vest pocket, and they have no signs of scratches so far.The bad: a design flaw is that the metal nosepiece is screwed onto the plastic lens frame (instead of riveted or affixed otherwise), so within a week the little screw on one side popped out and upon putting it back in, it easily stripped. As good as the clarity of the lenses are, the nosepiece mount is the weakest link in what could be a solid design improvement. After even Gorilla Glue could not fix it, I've drilled a hole and soldered a 24 gauge wire to repair it, so I should be able to get by with them as such, as long as I regularly check the tightness of the remaining 3 screws.People do offer compliments often though. I would recommend pince nez readers as a very handy and light solution to reading labels and menus, but until they improve the design, be sure to check the frame screws frequently and tighten as needed.3Good in a pinch, literally and figurativelyI like the fact it fits in my wallet so I never leave home with out it. The lens is plastic but cleaning seems to be fairly easy and less likely to break when I put it away. It's a bit tricky to fit on your nose especially if it's sitting on oily skin. Set it too high up and there won't be enough to hold it. Set it too low and it'll pinch your nose a little. This isn't meant to be used for long term reading. If you need it to briefly look at a menu, a theater program, your phone, anything that requires a brief looking at, this might do the job. It's definitely not for books or newspaper reading.3bad design-- uselessWhat idiot made the nose-gripping inner surface slippy-slidey smooth? It takes the spring about five seconds to slide these glasses up and off of my nose. I have a perfectly ordinary nose that the ThinOptics version has no trouble staying on. Theirs has a rough inner nose-gripping surface and I've never had theirs fall off.I'm glad I bought two different kinds for comparison-- These go into the trash and the ThinOptics version goes into my backpack for emergency/restaurant menu glasses.1Great Option For Affordable & Convenient ReadersI discovered the ease and affordability of Pince Nez readers awhile back. I cant tell you how many people have come up to me in the grocery or reading a program at the theater to ask me where I found this great option. Little children in particular are fascinated, having never seen this type of eyeglass on anyone, except Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt. First, these come in a 2 set option which makes it easy to carry one with you and still have one at home and the price is great. The quality and fit are terrific and the various placement options on your nose make them extremely comfortable to wear. I can slip them in my pocket or carry them in my purse. The case is a sturdy brushed aluminum and the overall weight of the glasses is really light. You won't usually find these at your local stores and the power options makes them available for just about everyone. I recommend them highly to everyone needing just a little help reading the fine print but hate the idea of carrying readers around on a chain around your neck.5Love these Reading Pince NezI have been using theses for a few months now, mainly on the weekends to give my eyes a break from contacts. I love them. As information, I am female with a releatively small face and a narrow nose bridge. These stay on my nose and I really forget that I have them on so if I wrinke my nose, they will fall off. If they are scratched, I can't see it so I will say these Pince Nez are very durable. I was wearing them when I opened a very hot oven, steam hit my face, I wrinkled my nose in reaction and the Pince Nez fell into oven. They were in there a minute or two before I was able to retreive them and no harm done, so I would say they are quite durable and I ordered anther set of 2. I now own 4 so I can have them spread all over the house for convenience.5Good for reading in bedI ordered these for reading in bed, since I figured they would not pinch my temples with side bars and therefore would be more comfortable while lying on my side. They do and work great for that purpose. I also like that they do not have any nose pads, those annoying little things that break off as I have seen on other models, so not having pads in the 1st place eliminates that problem. The slim carrying cases are pretty cool and make it safe to toss a pair in any bag, drawer or glove compartment. No issues with the lenses, the quality is as expected from plastic. What I did not account for was my Asian nose, not much to pinch these on, so when I yawn or cough or sneeze, they fall off.... not a huge problem of course, I would still recommend them.4Not for all nosesA few things to know first:They come with protective clear stickers on each lens that you are supposed to remove. So, if they seem hazy or not clear, try looking to see if yours has those stickers. They are not for every nose type. I see a lot of reviews complaining about how they just popped right off, or slid down and only grab the nose on the soft part, restricting breathing. This happened to me as well, but they functioned perfectly on my husband's nose. It wasn't the product, it was the shape/size of the bridge of my nose that was the issue. This is not their fault (nor mine, it's just how it is).Because they would not work for me, and my husband does not need reading glasses (lucky!), I did have to end up returning them. I still gave them a good rating, as they really did seem like they would have been exactly what I was looking for, and like they would hold up really well... if only they had worked with my particular nose. Again, not their fault, nor mine. Just the way it is.Though, I did decide to remove a single star because it seems to me that there *should* be a way to make such a thing work for more nose types - but I actually don't know for certain, or at least make more than one type, so people can choose something that might work for them. Again, I really don't know, it just might be wishful thinking on my part.4
