Customer Reviews

Just not for meI really need a pair of larger (taller lenses). Very distracting with the change in lens from magnified to normal. Needs to be subtle. I have a pair of readers that are 1.25 that are fine, but I need no magnification on top. And the frame on the top seems very limiting so it gives the illusion of 3 lenses; bifocal, normal, then real vision. I hate the smaller height cause I peer over the top of the glasses when I talk to someone. Gonna donate these glasses and get a pair of progressive lenses. Gave 3 stars cause they were here the next day, but the glasses were not quite what I expected.3Love these glasses!Very nice & great price! These work great & exactly what I needed. I just had cataract surgery so now I need readers but not for distance. Like others have said, I don't want to keep taking glasses on & off so these are perfect to keep on. They are very stylish, light weight & look more expensive than $17. I highly recommend them, you won't be sorry.5Great pair of glasses with readers built inI have had these glasses for a couple of weeks now, and I really like them. I hated having to wear reading glasses on the end of my nose, or have to keep taking them on and off. These work really well to be able to look up and see, and be able to glance down and read. I have used them in a classroom environment, as well as at home sitting on the couch watching TV and reading. The reading lenses are the proper size and location for me to not have any issues switching back and forth seamlessly. The only thing that I do not know yet, is how durable that they are. They seem to be rather light, so I am not sure if they may have durability issues. So far they have been great.5Quality product but this model has an irritating flawI bought two pairs from Readers.com. The other pair, which I kept was the Actor model which had round lens. I liked the look of these Vancouvers on my face but soon realized that the styling of the rectangular lens makes very little space for the dual views. As such, I could often see the blur line from 1X to 2X right in the middle of my laptop screen. This was forcing me to constantly bob my head up and down to read the screen and keep the blur line or the bottom edge of the glasses from being in my line of vision. The take away is this. For bi-focals, get the biggest lens you can to leave space for the dual views. The one thing that I did like about these was the longer arms that fit my ears better. The Actor model has shorter arms but I chose that sacrifice instead of the blur line issue with this model.4A Nice Step Up from Cheap ReadersA couple of years ago, I started to need reading glasses after never needing any glasses my whole life. I have used cheap, wire-framed readers since then, because amongst other reasons, I am very hard on sunglasses - sitting on them, dropping them, losing them, etc., so I did not want to spend much on readers. My optometrist office wanted about $300 for a pair of "custom" reading glasses that go from a reading magnification to a clear lens in a seamless gradient - way more than I want to spend for occasional use readers! However, I have now reached a point where I put on and take off my readers so much that I thought it might be time to try something like these.Plusses - they are stylish, comfortable, and seem to be well made. They have spring hinges too, which I did not see listed on the description.Minuses - the "line" around the reading portion is a hard line, and will take some getting used to (maybe all bi-focal glasses are like this???). Also, I wish the reading area was a little bigger in all directions as I find myself lifting my head to reach the reader portion sometimes.Wishes - I wish the reader area were a little larger. I wish there was a second area that was half the magnification of the reader to help my vision when I work at the computer and have to go from document, to screen, to talking to someone (like the Foster Grant's do at twice the price!!!). I wish the transition between all the sections (reader, computer, and clear lens) was a seamless gradient.Bottom line: These are a nice, professional looking "step up" from my cheap readers and for $16 a pair I won't mind too much if I have to replace them now and then because I lost them, broke them, etc.4A "Must have"These bifocal readers are so great! I've never had bifocals before. I used to wear readers and would have to have them at the tip of my nose so I could see other things while wearing them. Now I don't have to do that. These allow me to where them like normal glasses, not at the tip of my nose. I can see regular out the top 1/2 & up close through the bottom 1/2. They look good on too. Love them!5very sturdy, small bifocalvery sturdy, small bifocal, doesnt make steps weird, by that i mean, I deliver food and the houses here are way up and you take alot of stairs to get to the door and most glasses you can't look down as you're walking because of the bifocal with these glasses you can, makes my life so much easier being able to wear the glasses all the time with the Plano lens up top and just read the small receipts with the bifocal, highly recommend5The company sent me the first pair I loved so I re-ordered -big mistake! The frames the quality, and even the company name was different. Made in China on the second pair I got. If it had been the same glasses I would have ordered many more pairs because the first pair was awesome. The second a HUGE disappointment and they are telling me I have to pay a restock fee now to get them sent back. So I am keeping them and will donate to the shelter instead. It is a rip off and the poorest quality.1Lense too smallThe size of the lense should be larger to give you more space to look through the unmagnified portion of lense. You have a tendency to want to look over the top rather than through the lense, thus a larger lense would be better this is the same size as my reading glasses, a bifocal if this size isn't all that practical because you shouldn't look over the top but through the lense.3I wish I had these from the start!I needed a very slight correction for my vision +1.00 to +1.25. I decided to purchase over the counter reading glasses but found them a little impractical. Readers.com was the first company I found that offered bifocal corrective lens with a non-corrective upper lens. These have quickly become my everyday eyewear for work and home. Good quality overall.4
