Lowering cholesterolI take red rice yeast to help with my cholesterol. I take two a day and combined with trying to eat healthy and regular exercise it has helped my bad cholesterol numbers to come down. The pills are easy to swallow and there is no weird after taste. 5Bad reaction to red yeastI saw almost no reports to bad reactions to red yeast and im not allergic to many things. Beware red yeast can cause major upset stomach and diarreah and will take several days to build up and go away when you start/stop taking it. I assume the quality of the pills are good but you dont really now how affective these pills are cuz they are not allowed to measure the active ingredient per fda requirements. 3My husband didn't like how the prescription statin meds made him feelMy husband didn't like how the prescription statin meds made him feel. He takes 600 mg RYR daily along with 200 mg co-Q 10 after supper. His cholesterol dropped nearly 50 points at his 6 month re-check. Our family doctor was very pleased with the results! Because RYR is a natural statin, it can deplete the body's co-Q10 and cause muscle aches and fatigue, so it's important to also take a co-Q10 supplement along with RYR. 5Great product at a great price!!I've just spent the past month with a leg so sore that I couldn't walk on it! The cause: statins!! My cardiologist prescribed them for my high cholesterol, and at first they seemed fine. The statins actually increase inflammation and cause all kinds of other issues like muscle aches and stuff... so our naturopath recommended Red Yeast Rice along with a CQ10 to guard against muscle loss. I was very happy with the packaging, the price and the quality of the product. It was the most cost effective and a large enough volume that it would last a little bit and we wouldn't run out right away. We also purchased Puritans pride coQ10 and so far the results have been good. I have been trying to get natural replacements for meds that my husbands doctors are telling him that he needs to take.
