YUMGot a few packages of these as a gift several years ago and fell in love. After finding them on Amazon with a discount for buying them in multiples, I thought I'd died and gone to Hawaii. Not too sweet, and still tastes great with regular syrup (a little odd considering they flavor of the pancakes). Even better with the Hawaiian Sun coconut syrup.A package feeds two hungry souls with several pancakes--just add water. The pancakes are a perfect median between fluffy and dense to fill you up. I don't make regular pancakes anymore, this is where it's at. Makes a fun gift, or just to stock your own pantry with something new and interesting!5An inexpensive and sweet taste of HawaiiI gave this pancake mix as a gift last Christmas. While I never tried it, the recipient told me that they enjoyed it a lot and even brought up this Christmas just how tasty and clever the gift had been. He had been yearning for some pancakes in Hawaii and this was certainly cheaper than a plane ticket! Too expensive for average pancakes.1Wonderfully chocolate pancakesI do not know why stores in the mainland do not carry these Hawaiian Sun pancake mixes. This is my favorite flavor of the three. You don't get much of a macadamia flavor or any macadamia pieces, but the chocolate flavor is just delicious. It's basically like having dessert for breakfast. One word of caution, the pancakes are a bit on the small side due to the amount of batter made from the mix.5Too Sweet.I m from Hawaii so I m familiar with the Hawaiian Sun brand...mostly their beverages. Thought I d give this a try, mainly for my kids. One package made 4 pancakes. Whenever my kids try something different or new, one of the questions I ll always ask them (besides do you like it) is...is this something you would eat, if I served it again, or would request in the future because you enjoyed it so much? Both of my kids thought is was okay , but wouldn t eat it if I bought it again. They only ate one, each, so I tried one as well. For me, it was too sweet and a bit artificial, unfortunately, unlike if I were simply to mash up (or blend) a ripe banana and add it to plain pancake batter. I didn t quite taste the macadamia nut, tho. Hope this helps those of you on the fence.3This tastes like coconut and pineappleThis tastes like coconut and pineapple, without that chemically fake taste. The pancakes disappeared in the blink of an eye. One word of warning, the pancakes come out on the small side due to the amount of batter one packet makes.5DeliciousI bought 2 flavors: Blueberry Acai & Pineapple Coconut. Today I tried the Blueberry Acai and was surprised at its flavor. It was sweet, but not overly so and none of the tartness associated with blueberries. I actually enjoyed it more without syrup, just a little butter. It was as if I had a muffin with my morning coffee. I finally tried the Pineapple Coconut. Surprisingly I was not as happy with this flavor. I could smell the tropical flavors upon opening the packet. But after cooking, I could not taste the coconut and the pineapple was at a minimum. I have pineapple and coconut extract (ordered from Amazon) so I will try them with regular pancake mix in the future. But the Blueberry Acai will be reordered.5Delicious pancakes!!I've been to Hawaii once and I'll never forget that trip! Everything was wonderful, including the food, and this pancake mix definitely reminds me of breakfast there. We've tried other mixes and recipes, but surprisingly this mix is the best we've had - I make these and serve with fresh pineapple, whipped cream, and toasted coconut. YUM!!5
