This Newman's Coffee Formula and Packaging Has Been ChangedThe golden labeled K cup offered by Keurig (Green Mountain) in the past was delicious and the only coffee I drank but its packaging has been changed to a dark red label and along with that change I feel the coffee has changed too. It is not that nice smooth blend any more but a more watery, bitter coffee. Not the same coffee anymore!!The company claims there is no difference in the coffee blend but I and many many other consumers who have recently sampled the newly labeled coffee vehemently disagree. I was on Costco's site and I just got off Green Mountain's site and boy are there a lot of angry people about this. I visited the Keurig site and in their FAQ they mention the change in packaging from this old mustard colored label to a new dark red label. Here is the wording from their site explaining the difference in their product labeling and specifically the Newman's Special Blend K Cup product. " Does this impact the contents of the K-Cup pack? No, the printing on the lid in no way impacts the contents of your K-Cup pack. You will continue to experience a perfect beverage, every time, without exception. Why do some packs in my K-Cup box have a white outer ring while others have a slight gray or light lavender ring? As our partner brands transition to this new design, there may be slight shade variations in the outer rings ranging from white to light gray to light lavender. This variation in no way impacts the contents of your K-Cup pack. There are additional appearance changes to some of the brands. Does that mean the contents have changed? We have also updated the lid color for both Newman's Own Organics and Green Mountain Coffee K-Cup packs. The primary Newman's Own Organics lid color changed from gold/copper to red/burgundy and the primary Green Mountain Coffee lid color changed from green to brown. The lid color in no way impacts the contents of your K-Cup pack. You will continue to experience a perfect beverage, every time, without exception."If you will go to the Green Mountain Coffee website and search for this item and look under the reviews you will read many comments where consumers are angry at the change in the flavor of their favorite coffee even though Keurig claims there is no formula change. All these people can't be wrong and my husband and I agree with them. The coffee is NOT the same.Amazon bent over backwards for us on this last order because of this very problem we experienced with the new labeling AND coffee!! However, it was NOT Amazon's fault as they would have NO way of knowing this change had been made.I am putting in the review here to make it right for them so their customers know to be aware when ordering any Newman's Special Blend with this new dark red labeling. Hopefully then Amazon won't have to absorb the cost to make it right because their customers will be forewarned that this might not be the product they were expecting. I hope this helps!5Great flavor without being too strong. So far my favorite K-Cup!I love my Keurig. Since getting the b70 I notice myself drinking more and more coffee (coincidently my productivity has also increased). My keurig came with a 36 sample pack which included 6 of these. Every cup I'd make I would try a different brand to find one that I would like.I like my coffee bold (But not quite extra bold) and flavorful. Time and time again when I popping one of these in I would end up with the "just right" cup of coffee for myself. I didn't bother trying the rest of the pack as this was the one for me.Although capable of a great cup with the Large cup setting on the keurig, I have found that running the same pod twice with the Small Cup setting works best for me.NOTE: These will NOT arrive in packs, but rather in one brown box just tossed in. Not an issue for me since I just pop them into my KCup holder, but in case you're expecting a few display boxes.5Actually tastes like coffee and not colored water!Good coffee. I like my coffee a little on the strong side and it is sometimes hard to find coffee that doesn't taste like water in the k-cups. This is a good coffee and actually tastes like coffee. Has a good flavor to it also. Contrary to popular belief, dark roasts are not necessarily "stronger" coffees. The beans are just roasted longer, bringing out a more burned flavor, but breaking down the caffeine. I prefer a light or medium roast for morning wake up juice, but do like to be able to taste it. The Newmans "extra bold" k-cup has a little extra grounds in it, so you get a stronger flavor. I would recommend this coffee if you like to taste your coffee and not just drink colored water.5the best tasting decaf coffee I have ever drunk..I am not a huge fan of k-cups due to the increased cost of a cup of coffee and the plastic waste it creates. However in my office this is what we have and therefore, sometimes I order k-cups. I came across Newman's organic while searching amazon. I am not a die hard coffee fan but I drink a cup or two a day.The two main reasons, I bought this was that it was organic and that it was decaffeinated using one of the few natural methods. This one uses water based process and together with CO2 based one it is considered as the healthiest decaffeination method. Most commercially available decaf coffee and almost all decaf k-cups use benzene ( a toxic chemical that is linked with cancer) based methods which I tend to avoid at all costs.Apart from the health issues, I really loved the taste. I can say it is in the stronger side of the spectrum and you taste the smokey but not bitter flavor.The only drawback is the price. For all the luxury you have ( naturally decaffainated, great tasting organic coffee) I think it is worth it but still puts me off buying it all the time. Amazon offers it at a decent price compared to other vendors though.If you can afford it and you are really looking for quality, then go for it you will not regret...5This is not the same as the coffee in the original Burgundy labeled K cupsWhile this product seems to be labeled as the old style K cups with the dark burgundy labels, it really doesn't taste the same.I have purchased the original product many times, and on the last two purchases, received this product with the gold label, claiming to be medium roast Extra Bold, but the taste is different and not nearly as full bodied. When I was ready to reorder, I specifically looked for the picture of the K cups with the burgundy label and made sure that was what I ordered, but when the box arrived I was disappointed to find the gold labeled K cups in the box. I have written to the seller, Liquid Nation asking for the other product as pictured and am waiting for a reply. If I cannot get the other style, I'll find another brand to try. I also did write to Newman's own company asking if this was a change of product, or the sellers are trying to force the product on customers as a substitute. I'm waiting for replies.3Great cup of coffee!I received a sample of this particular variety of K-cup when I purchased my machine and it has become my favorite! It is a nice balance between light and dark roast, making it suitable to serve to guests whose preferences go either way. I have used both flavored and unflavored half and half with this coffee, and it always tastes perfect. Smooth and rich without being overpowering. And I love that it's organic! Purchasing it through the Subscribe and Save option makes it a nice deal. The only thing I didn't like about purchasing it in the 50 pack was that they were simply loose in a cardboard box.5Organic coffee, especially decaf, is hard to find...It probably makes sense to go organic with foods or beverages that you use frequently. As a daily drinker of three to four cups of coffee, I want to avoid insecticides or harmful chemicals whenever possible. A friend, who is in a position to know, told me they do routinely use these potentially harmful substances in the coffee growing process. Therefore, I use Newman's organic decaf with my regular coffee to avoid both the " bad stuff " and the palpitations or coffee jitters that may result otherwise. The flavor is okay, though it's just slightly weak for my taste. I'm just glad to find that Newman's offers this niche selection.4Worst company ever: Deals on Call ! Do NOT Use themWhen I ordered Newman s decaf coffee from DEALS ON CALL, I expected the usual Neuman's coffee.. The little pods kept on imploding! What a huge mess... coffee and grinds everywhere in the machine, all over the counter! They were awful. Who wants to clean their Keurig, drink coffee that isn't strong and has grinds in it? My jusband didn't throw them away for some reason. When we just moved I was throwing them away and looked at the box. THEY EXPIRED IN 2015! NO WONDER THEY EXPLODE! $51.00 down the drain plus much cleanup!1Bold, Full-Bodied FlavorIf you are wanting a bold coffee, where you know you are drinking coffee, I recommend this coffee. Even though the packaging states it is a medium roast, it does not taste it. I like strong coffee so I like the "extra bold" flavor! (I think it would be good to use when making chocolate cakes since coffee enhances the flavors!)5BEWARE! - The New Foil Tops Burst Open on the "2nd Generation" KupsPLEASE NOTE: This review is not against the coffee! (I love the coffee). This review is for what Keurig is calling "Newman's Own Organics 'The Second Generation' Newman's Special Blend". I don't know if Keurig is doing this to all their K-Cups, but this "Second Generation" has a lavender outer ring and a burgundy center (the original was orange and burgundy). They have done something with the foil tops -- either it is a thinner piece of foil, or it is not stretched as tightly as the original ones. This is what happens: When you place the K-cup in the holster and lower the top part of your Keurig to pierce the foil, instead of making a nice, tight fitting hole that matches the diameter the size of the piercing needle, it rips a hole anywhere from 1.5 times bigger up to the size of a dime!!! The result: about a third of the water that should be forcing and brewing through the K-Cup is being shot over the top of the K-cup and dribbling down the sides of it bypassing the coffee and filling up the K-Cup holster and dribbling that water from the outer sides of the holster into your coffee mug.I will be contacting Amazon by phone to see how they will handle this as I've tried 7 K-Cups to see how repeatable this was just to rule out a fluke. But alas, 3 out of 7 had holes the size of a dime, 3 had holes double the size of the piercing needle, and one 1.5 times bigger than the piercing needle. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS "SECOND GENERATION" with the lavender ringed top. Read your item description carefully and make sure you buy the original generation with the orange tops (Buy them up before they're gone as it looks like the "Second Generation" will be replacing the originals). KEURIG! Get your s*** together!!!1
