Good product but unacceptable packagingORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm very happy with this purchase. The pods arrived quickly and in great condition. The espresso is delicious and they work flawlessly with my Nespresso machine. The product was also fresh, with an expiration date over 14 months away. I've purchased these pods on Amazon numerous times, and I've always been happy. UPDATE: I've order these pods a many times now, and the last few orders have been really disappointing. The pods that work are still delicious, but twice now the order has arrived so damaged that several pods needed to be thrown out -- over 10% of the pods this most recent order. They are not shipping these with enough packaging to protect them in transit. This is likely the last order I'll place with them.2Consistently High Quality, Ease of UseMy wife and I went to espresso over coffee years ago (1990s or so) when we confirmed that coffee always left us jittery and "wired" in an uncomfortable way, but that espresso, without milk, flavors, sugar, etc. made us more alert but had none of the jittery drawbacks of coffee. Over the years we have tried almost every possible brand of coffee, grinding our own beans, and several brands of espresso machines including pre-packaged brands with pods.We've found Nespresso to be the most consistent and the best at not giving us jitters while still providing the "boost" we love. While we still use purchased beans and grind our own to run through our espresso machine for our double shot morning espresso, the Nespresso is of course much quicker and handier so we use it for our quick after lunch or evening espresso. Having learned that Nespresso pods can be recycled through their own process (they are made of aluminum), we now save them for recycling.Our choice for a good, strong, black espresso is this one, Ristretto.5I received 5 counterfeit sleeves of Nespresso Ristretto podsI waited to write this review until I was 100% sure that the product I purchased from this seller is counterfeit, because I would never want to harm the reputation of any seller by writing something that is false, or lower the 100% satisfaction ratings of this seller. I'm aware that selling counterfeit items is illegal as well, and I would not accuse a seller of that unless I was absolutely sure that the items are in fact counterfeit. I do not know if the seller is aware or unaware that they are selling counterfeit items, but it is a problem they need to address.I ordered 5 sleeves of Nespresso Ristretto pods from this seller on Amazon recently. Ristretto is one of my favorite espressos and has a distinctive taste that I love. I hadn't been drinking espresso or other caffeinated products often for a few months, but was very tired since I just moved- and with the cold weather was very much in the mood for my double espresso! I noticed it didn't taste great- at all-but I finished it, thinking perhaps my taste had changed. A half hour later, still feeling tired, I had another double espresso. I was shocked that 4 espressos did not wake me up, and that they tasted bad to me, so I went to check the pods , thinking something was off- idk, maybe I accidentally received decaf(?)The first thing I noticed was that the foil top of the pod did not have Ristretto along with the Nespresso logo printed on it, it only had the Nespresso logo on it-strange, since every other Nespresso pod I've seen has both the name of the flavor and Nespresso logo on the foil top.I contacted Nespresso to order additional flavors, as well as more Ristretto, since I wanted to compare the product sent directly from Nespresso to the product I purchased from this seller side by side. The boxes were similar but had different writing / info on 3 sides of the box/ sleeve. The pods obviously were different, so I took side by side photos of the pods, as well as the 4 sides and bottom (where date info is printed) of the genuine Nespresso sleeve/box and a pod and sleeve/ box I received from this seller.I contacted customer service at Nespresso to explain that I ordered 5 sleeves of Ristretto from a reseller on Amazon, and the order was fulfilled by Amazon. I explained my concerns and asked if all Nespresso pods bear both the name of the flavor and the Nespresso logo on the foil seal of each pod, or if Nespresso produced any product with simply the logo on the foil seal.The Nespresso representative informed me that all espresso pods produced and sold by Nespresso had both the flavor name and the logo on the foil seal. I then compared the boxes, which also were not the same. I told her that if that was the case, this product was counterfeit- not actually made by Nespresso & that I have no idea what is in the counterfeit product but was deeply concerned since this is something I put in my body, with no idea what is in the product. I explained that I compared the product sent to me directly from Nespresso with the product I'd received from this seller and was willing to send the photos send them to the company if they wanted to see them.The Nespresso representative understood my concern, told me this was the first time she had received a call about this, so I was put on hold while she spoke to someone higher in management.The Nespresso representative explained that she had not known, but that The company is aware there are companies/ sellers replicating and trying to pass off and sell the counterfeit items as genuine Nespresso products & were monitoring this.The Amazon representative I spoke with was appalled, and of course I was refunded for the purchase. She was wonderful. I offered to send the photos and did. I wonder though, what measures Amazon will take to prevent the sale of counterfeit goods through their fulfillment center. It is especially concerning when the counterfeit item is a product that is something you put into your body, thinking it is safe and trusting that it is exactly what you purchased, when in fact you have no idea what harmful ingredients are in the counterfeit item, possibly harmful substances or even ones a person might be allergic to.This is a problem- a big problem. I purchase vitamins, food and all other types of things through Amazon, often Amazon resellers. It scares me and makes me rethink the quality control measures in place.1tops pushed out of shape preventing proper insertionI have ordered the ristoretto capsules every month since December. The may batch contained many dented and unusable capsules- but I was able to finally figure out how to press the aluminium back into shape. The July batch had a similar problem. I am guessing the boxes are damaged in the warehouses and subsequently not noticeable until opened. This is not an inexpensive way to purchase high quality coffee- so I think someone needs to check the warehouse3Great coffee but bent capsulesThe coffee is outstanding. With these I can make a better cappuccino than just about any coffee shop i've been to, excepting of course Onyx Coffee Lab in Bentonville,AR, Duluth Coffee Company in Duluth MN and Taste of Rome in Sausalito. Follow the Nespresso guideline for ml per pull. I use 3 capsules per drink. Stretching the shots makes the espresso bitter. The unfortunate thing is that Amazon mails these in a padded envelope which is not enough to protect the capsules from getting bent. Ordering direct from Nespresso gets you a better box.5Incomplete order and damaged product.Ordered a 50 count of Ristretto and only received 30, and at least half of the pods are dented. Tried to initiate return, but was unable to. Will file a claim with Amazon.190% of the capsules were damagedThe product itself is great, I love Nespresso. The problem is when it seems your order's been in a train wreck and you have to trash 90% of the capsules right away.1Sent me some rejects that were unusableQuick Xpress sold me cast-offs in poor condition. Read the other negative reviews. When someone is unsatisfied with this product, the coffee pods are dented and unusable. That happened to me. The padded mailer was in good condition. There was no problem with shipping or reasonable packaging. The boxes of coffee pods looked fine. Even the expiration dates seemed ok. The surprise happened when I opened the boxes and the dented pods bounced out. To be fair - not all were dented and damaged. About 35% were. Those broken pods were unusable. I tried. I would never buy this product again. Quick Xpress should be honest enough to say that it is selling cast-offs/rejects from Nespresso. Next time I will purchase from Nespresso directly for almost the same price and receive 100% usable pods. If you buy these pods, then I hope the pods in your boxes are in much better condition than mine. The website doesn t allow returns, so I guess we re out $35...1Dented Nespresso capsules.I have made multiple orderers over time of sleeves of Nespresso Ristretto Original. I noticed that several capsules were dented or crushed and chalked it up to a minor shipping problem or mishandling on my part. I also considered that my spouse was not handling the sleeves gently enough. Yesterday, I received my order of 5 sleeves. The 5 sleeves were in a corrugated box with 1x5 sleeve configuration. This in turn was in a larger corrugated box with some other lightweight items. All packaging was in perfect pristine condition. However 3-4 capsules were damaged in each sleeve. Many that were dented or buckled were in the middle of the sleeve. I have LITTLE DOUBT that the reseller is buying 2nds fromNespresso and reselling them on Amazon with a somewhat better discount. Most but not all are functional in my Nespresso maker albeit some by the nature of the dent have only one or two punctures. Simply advise same in the product description, alternately this is unethical at best. BTW I see another reviewer mentioned the same issue so this is clearly not isolated1
