Sizing question and infoI'm 32 weeks pregnant and I've been having bad hip/groin pain. This belt really seems to be helping, I've had it now for 3 days and my end of day pain in greatly reduced. I was worried about fit so I want to give as much info about that as I can for others looking for size info. I was a size 16/18 when I first got pregnant and I have barely gained 15lbs in my pregnancy. This belt in size XXL is a great fit with plenty of extra space, I probably could have gotten away with an XL. This belt is NOT uncomfortable to me, it doesn't dig into anything. It does squish my fat in ugly ways but hey I wasn't getting it to make me look sexy. It serves a purpose and i think it doesn't that well. All these 1 star reviews because it's tight and not for plus size are BS. I'm for sure a plus size and it's just fine. I would have a concern about fit if I was maybe a size 26. 5Worked only for a short whileI bought this support belt when was about 6 months pregnant. I wasn't too big yet but my stomach feels like it's going to explode so I bought this to see if it will help. It does help a lot, for a while. The design has several flaws that made me stop using after a while. First, the stretchy adjustable flaps have the hook (rough) side of velcro and are quite a bit wider than the loop (soft) side, so when velcro is closed/attached the hook side snag more area than just the soft side. That additional area get ripped fairly quickly (I think after just a month of everyday use). Another more problematic design issue is the length (or size) of the belt. I was probably about 8 months when the length of the belt is not long enough to go around me anymore. But that's precisely when I need the support - when I got big!! It did provide strong support while it works (it has metal wire/strips inserted), but it didn't work for long. All in all, I will not recommend this support belt.I also bought the Loving Comfort Maternity Support belt from a brick and mortar maternity store. This one is a little better but still not great. One can definitely use it from early pregnancy til the day she delivers. It's a two-piece (well, three piece, but one piece is just a strap that I felt does nothing) design that has plenty of room for adjusting. One piece, the loop side, goes in front of stomach. The other piece goes around the back, the two ends has the hooks that attach to the loop at the front. One can close the ends very near each other (when stomach is still small), or, close the ends very far from each other (when stomach is big). It's complicated to put on and take off, however, and that's one thing I didn't like. Another issue is that it provides medium support at most. It does not have metal wire/strip inserts. It's quite stretchy and doesn't hold up the stomach enough. I pick this over the Gabrialla, however. 2Best belt everThis was the best thing for my pregnancy! I had horrible ligament pains for my last two pregnancies and this belt helped soooo much! It didn t take the pain away completely but it helped tremendously and made working or walking way more tolerable 5LifesaverI wear this almost every day. I have horrible hip and muscle soreness and lower back pain. This support belt enables me to stay on my feet and walk longer distances when I need to. I have two little boys I'm constantly running after and my tiled kitchen floor kills my back so this is a lifesaver. I haven't had any issues with the velcro or elastic wearing out yet and I have two more months to go before I'm due so we'll see! 5great for back pains of pregnancyI wore mine pretty frequently because I had issues from standing on the bus and train on my commute to work. It helped to take some of the strain off of my lower back. I already have a swayback, so pregnancy just added extra strain to my back. It didn't completely take the pain away, but it definitely helped to ease it. I know that some buyers said that they suggested to not use it if you sat a large part of the day, which i did. I didn't have any discomfort unless I started swelling from too much food. I did notice that it would slip downward if i was walking more than a block or so. It would've been nice if it came with the support strap that lays across the top of the belly, but it's certainly not necessary. I recommend this to moms-to-be if you're plus size and having back pain at any time during your pregnancy. 4Fits as expected in the plus size.I am a plus size pregnant woman and the belt STILL fits at 34 weeks. I wear a size 1x in maternity pants. The only complaint that I have is that the velcro part is not wide enough because it rolls down when I am sitting or sticks out funny when I walk around. It DOES provide the support I need I just wish I didn't have a funny looking bump in my shirt. 4pre-existing back condition and struggle with poor posture from growing babyThis is has been a life saver for my unstable pelvis, pre-existing back condition and struggle with poor posture from growing baby. I had another band that I was using by my doctors recommendation. It was significantly smaller width and did not have the girdle style bones that this product has. I was suffering from severe and debilitating pain that made it impossible to walk. Within a day of getting this product, I was able to finally get some relief from the pain and two weeks later almost pain free. This definitely holds your weight where it needs to be. It's very good quality material and doesn't require a lot of adjusting like other straps do. Very comfortable and breathable.Being plus sized and pregnant can be very painful on your musculoskeletal structure. I highly recommend to any plus sized pregnant woman purchasing products with straps (belly bands, bras, etc.) that you get wide straps. The wider, typically the most support and life you will get from the product. 5Pretty decent beltI bought this for pregnancy #2 after the first preg left me with diastasis recti (and my OB suspects a connective tissue disorder like Ehlers Danlos). This really helps. The sizing, I'll agree, is off by a lot. I've been wearing it for 2.5 months and have 3-4 weeks of pregnancy to go. I ordered Large and am really hoping it makes it till the end. I have gained only about 20 pounds the whole time, so it's more about my shape than anything.When I first got this, it was miraculous. Now after 2.5 months it still is necessary and helpful, but I'm bullet-shaped and the stomach part constantly slips below where it's helpful. I grumble that it must've been designed by a man. :)It's well into June and I think for its size it doesn't add the heat I thought it would, so that's great. Do expect it to make your pants a little trickier to fit. 4because I getting bigger now and my stomach feels like it's constantly pulled as tight as it'll goI got this for pregnant running. Putting it on, I didn't notice immediate relief. But I decided to wear it on my run anyways, and it DID help. I didn't feel such strain and pressure in my belly and uterus. I went on a short walk last night, and decided to wear it, because I getting bigger now and my stomach feels like it's constantly pulled as tight as it'll go. This does help with that feeling! I wish i would have had this with my first baby. :) 5Total disappointment - does not serve the basic function of back support.So initially I ordered a size up due to reviews stating that this ran very small. That was a mistake, it actually runs larger than expected. I usually wear a medium in pretty much everything, especially in maternity clothes. I ordered the large, and it was WAAAY too big. The ends almost wrapped back around to my hips on either side. Realizing this, I ordered the small. The size was correct, and I also saw a chart on the side of the box giving very specific measurements (posted with this review for future buyers' reference).However, I unfortunately would not recommend this 'brace' at all. I work for a spine surgeon, and I know a thing or two about back braces. First thing, it should be snug, otherwise it really can't work at all (one more reason to size down). The whole idea is that the tension of the brace stabilizes your pelvis and lumbar spine. In pregnancy, the ligaments in your pelvis and sacroiliac joints relax slightly. This causes pain in those joints when the bones separate or stretch in ways they shouldn't normally. If you already know that your issue is SI joint or pubis symphysis dysfunction, this brace will do absolutely nothing for you. The only thing it could potentially do is distribute weight from your abdomen to your back, which is not actually what you want. The best way to relieve joint pain is to stabilize the joint in question, which enables it to correctly carry more weight by default.I could go on and on about this, but if you have Sacroiliac or pubis symphysis/diastysis pain, just do yourself a favor and buy the Serola SI Belt instead (https://www.amazon.com/Serola-Sacroiliac-Hip-Belt-Medium/dp/B000NIFVLW). If you have true ligamental pain, this will give you a great deal of relief immediately.My hope in buying this belt was that it would support my ligaments and take some of the strain off of my ever-enlarging baby bump. Sadly, it does neither. Two stars just because it does seem well made, just not really suited for the purpose it was intended. 2
