PREMIUM BEANS!I am somewhat of a coffee snob. I don't mind spending the money on coffee as long as it is good quality and tastes great. I ordered this based on other's reviews and was not dissapointed. This company, Fresh Roasted Coffee, has become my favorite coffee supplier. It's now all I drink, as far as coffee goes. This blend has a rich coffee taste, bold, but not bitter or overpowering, with a nice chocolatey finish. It does not leave me jittery, but has the umph to get me going in the morning. I love that it is so fresh that when I open it to put it in a vac container, the whole house immediately smells like a pleasant coffee house. I mean, it is stunning how obviously fresh roasted this coffee is. This stuff is PREMIUM.5MORE GREAT COFFEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Okay i can say this for us coffee lovers... DROOOOLLLL!!!!I was surprised by this companies Black Knight Coffee... because i liked strong keep me awake coffee... but this was amazing and rates as a top coffee by this company. It is as the Review i put on Wicked Owl coffee as well.. the smell during perking is heavenly and an aroma that brought me back to grandpa and grandma's house in the morning on a farm. This isnt acidic at all very smooth great blend and awesome taste. I purchased this one month ago and we now only have half of a 5 pound bag left. So that should give you and idea of how good it is as we make 4 pots of coffee a day for two people 5 if company shows up. This Company has got a Very very Glad customer in me as i have reviewed a few of their coffees in the last year. I have not missed at all and love the taste. Well Done!!! I also have two others coffeees to review from them which i just brook into one 5 pound bag of tiger nebula expresso and costra rica tarrazu so those reviews up soon but you might look at the others coffees i ahve review so far.. if i have reviewed it .. i bought it and drank it and then some.5Old coffee, not fresh roasted as the bag/photo advertises.Old coffee, no aroma - average flavor. When the date on the package says 6/15/2020 you might think it will be fresh when received on Nov. 1st, 2019. Think again. If the industry practice for whole bean coffee is to date the batch for a one year shelf life, then my bag was roasted mid-June 2019. I was shipped a 5 month old bag of coffee by Amazon?. Who is to blame.........Amazon or Fresh Coffee LLC. Both in my opinion. If you read the replies by Fresh Coffee LLC., you'll see one that says they roast to order ONLY when you buy direct. Forget buying from Amazon. And if the roaster allows Amazon to sell their old stock, I say forget this roaster as well.3ConflictedA friend gave me a bag of ground coffee in this particular roast. It became my favorite coffee after just the first sip. I raved about how good it was! I quickly finished my gift, and confidently purchased a large bag of whole bean. I thought it would be equal if not better being freshly ground at home. I was sadly disappointed. The beans were dry and not fresh at all, though the expiration date wasn t until 11/2020. The flavor was greatly lacking compared to the bag I was gifted. While I question the brew methods used by those reviewing poorly, and the cleanliness of their equipment, I, on the other hand, know how to brew a cup of coffee. (for this I used a pour over drip)Usually upon opening a bag of coffee, you can sometimes tell what quality you're getting just from the smell alone. These beans appear a little on the dry side, but put off that pleasant strong coffee aroma we all know and love, which only magnifies upon grinding. Now, this is a good, solid cup of coffee for those in between who don't quite like a black as the night itself dark roast, but also like it a bit stronger than shmedium. I do get the hints of almond that the description claims, but not so much the dark chocolate. It goes down quite smooth with zero bitterness, which for me, gives it all the drink-ability points it needs to be considered a good coffee. Normally, I like my coffee as dark as the black blood of the earth, and while the initial Amazon description had this listed as a dark roast, it is indeed a medium roast, but still quite enjoyable.In simpler terms, it's a good brew to batten down the hatches with on those stormy evenings where you stay indoors with a good book or video game, away from the cold, unfathomable clutches of Davy Jones' locker. Bonus if you have a cat or doggo cuddle buddy.4Fed-up with the 'Starbucks' taste!Fed-up with the 'Starbucks' taste!I'm a fan of Starbucks - and I spend $5-$10/wk at various locations. But for home brew Starbucks taste is just not the same when compared to store bought. It might be the quality of coffee, their brewing devices, or various other things - I just can't simulate the Starbucks taste at home using Starbucks coffee brand coffee. (Note: I burr grind my coffee prior to home brew - I buy whole beans only!) Whether, medium roast, dark roast, Ethiopian, Costa Rican, light, dark, blonde etc. I just can't simulate the store bought with my home coffee maker. Besides, the 'Starbucks taste' appear to side on the dark/french roast appeal. I am also planning to try other coffee's from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC. Their products appear to have 4-5 stars with above-average reviews and comments. For now, I can recommend this. It wasn't the best ever but the price is fair. It smells great while grinding and brewing and in my opinion only starts to taste bitter as the cup cools, so I have to hurry and drink it while it's hot instead of dawdle like usual. In the past few months I had decided to purchase 5 pound bags from now on due to the alarming rate at which it disappears from the kitchen and this popped up on the search. Since I liked the name I got it. There's only so many options on Amazon and I've tried a few from external websites but the higher prices and shipping charges usually bring me back here since it comes in two days. I'm quite curious about the "fresh roasted" claim. It's confusing when it has an expiration date rather than a roasted on date. It arrived around the beginning of November and says it expires March 2015. I tried digging around a little- although admittedly not thoroughly- and can't find if they use a 6 or 12 month expiration date system. Either way, as far as I can tell it is perfectly tasty so that wouldn't keep me from buying it again, but might be something to keep in mind for the more snobbish coffee lover.4Great tasteCoffee is something the military takes seriously and I can't stand a bad pot. Every deployment I try and take a coffee grinder and French press with me to help save me from bad chow hall coffee. When I arrived in Afghanistan I discovered only Folgers and Dunkin Donuts ground coffee, both lacking in drinkability. Thankfully, Amazon sent this to me quickly--from the time of order to arrival was about 10 days (which is great) and it was one of the best beans I have had. My only complaint is not with the brand or taste, but the packaging. I chose to order the 5 pound bag to save on cost but by the time I had gotten to the end the beans started getting stale. I should have ordered the 2 lb bags instead. If you have a air tight container this probably won't be a problem.5
