These Made A Surprising DifferenceI ordered these heel protectors because I was developing new calluses on the outside of each heel. The only thing I thought was related is the fact that I had been placing a pillow under my knees to reduce nocturnal leg cramps. I had noticed that my heels ached at night, sometimes awakening me. I tried putting a small pillow under my heels. The pillow often wound up on the floor. After wearing these heel protectors for about a month my calluses are resolving and I don't have aching heels. They are easy to don and are comfortable. They stay put (I don't move around much in my sleep). I have not yet laundered them. It is great to discover a simple solution to a significant problem. 5Thoughtful solution for tender heelsWe couldn't be more pleased with these heel protectors. My mother is bedridden, her heels are sensitive as a result, and these protectors recommended by a nurse turned a potential heel sore situation around immediately. I wish I had known about them long ago. They are soft and easy to put on. The Amazon post for these wasn't clear enough on this point, but this package does contain a pair. They are also inexpensive and would make a very thoughtful gift for anyone who has to be in bed for a while, healing after surgery, etc. Heels get tender surprisingly fast. 5Booties Slip OffI bought these for a relative who has been bed-bound. We were excited to try this product. But alas, the booties easily come loose and fall off. It was a nice effort, but the bootie needs to be secured more reliably. 2A little tough to stay on.The heel protectors are nice and thick and protect the heel well, but they come off or move too easily. If the Velcro band is put on tightly enough to keep them on you are in danger of cutting off your circulation. These would work well for people who aren't moving very much. As someone who had hip surgery and needs to do frequent foot pumps and can't reach beyond my knees to adjust these if the come off, I can only use them when I have help. They frequently slip at night even when I am not actively doing foot pumps, 3Defenitely NOT suited for patients that must lay down. This will not stay on the heel.Ideally in most cases this device would do as it is supposed to do and protect the sensitized heel(s). In this instance we needed to use this on a 90% incapacitated 92 year old parent with dementia. It would not stay no matter how we tried securing this around his heel. It always ended up on his calf. I do wish the company look into how they can improve this to stay on someone that cannot control keeping this on their heel. Hopefully a more secure, but comfortable, means of keeping the protector from riding up while the one wearing it is lying down.For those that are able to use these heel protectors, I can only tell you from observation and hand feel these heel protectors are soft comfortable and should help someone with a sensitive heel or skin on the heel provided it stays on. The design looks suited for someone who is sitting like in a wheelchair. It does not appear to be likely to stay on with someone who is somewhat ambulatory or laying down all the time. 2Useless productAn absolutely useless product!! It simply does not fit. A longer strap would probably solve the problem. I tried to lengthen it, but it is not easy for someone with mobility problems. Other purchasers photos show closure across the foot with extra strap remaining. I am unable to even get the strap anywhere near the other hook and loop end to attach it. I wear a size 14 shoe but the length of my foot is in front of the ankle and not at the heel where the protector fits. I ended up using them as an insert to my Posey foot pillows. 3medical sheepette heel protector'sI searched for this item, because I was told they were great to keep you'r heels from getting breakdown's while sleeping and so far they have worked for me ,my heel's used to get painfull from pressure on them & now that I wear these heel protectors I have no more pain while sleeping thank's for having these for sale on your siteSandra starkweather 5Waste of money- very uncomfortable.I bought these because they looked similar to what I use in the hospital as a nurse. I wasted my money for sure. They have very little padding, the padding is uncomfortable. the outside of the protector is rough and scratchy and irritates your skin. The Velcro touches the skin at the bend in the ankle- very irritating. They are not made of real wool so they do not provide any of the skin softening properties found in sheep skin. I did not return them because it was too much trouble. I can always wash my car with them. I bought another brand instead and was very happy with them. 1
