Manufactured incorrectlyDO NOT BUY THIS CANE. It has been manufactured wrong, in a way that makes the anti-rattle clamp no longer work.I've owned one of these canes for well over a year and was very happy with it. It's gotten a bit battered and scratched, plus adjustable canes tend to get looser over time and need to be replaced. So I ordered this cane from this seller.Outwardly, it was identical to my old cane and came with the same annoying sticky label at the very top under the handle. (Dude, why make a nice-looking cane and ruin it with a big ugly label using a glue that stays behind when you peel it off??) But the cane was manufactured differently -- and made wrong. That black ring is the anti-rattle clamp. It is supposed to move up and down. Move it down, then the cane is easy to adjust but the metal hole rattles against the metal button. Move the black ring up and it clamps the top, adjustable section in place. No rattle. But on this cane (and its replacement), the ring doesn't move. It's been pushed onto the end of the top section so far and so tightly that it can't do its job. It's been stretched so it doesn't clamp -- you can adjust the cane easily. This cane looks exactly like it did before but it doesn't work right. This defect is why the cane rattles. This defect is why some people have had it fail at the peg. This defect makes the cane terrible. And according to the reviews on Drive's website, this defect was reported TWO YEARS AGO!I love the shape of the handle. It can hang on a tabletop or chair back -- I've even put the short end through the handle of a banquet chair and had it stay secure. The long end easily stays on a chair back or tabletop, at least long enough for me to do whatever I need to do. The handle is firm but soft enough not to hurt my hand, with a flat spot that distributes the pressure well. Gripped with the forefinger and thumb on one side and the rest of the hand on the other, it's easy to be precise about placing my hand. I can use it on the right or the left. It weighs very little and folds well. But until they fix their manufacturing, I can't recommend this cane anymore. I can't find another one that is as nice-looking with the same handle design. I even hoped that they had improved it with more padding in the "flat spot", but the two defective canes I received didn't have that bump you see in the photo.Definitely don't buy this cane from this seller. If you got the cane WITH the bump and without the defect, please reply and tell me where you got it! 1Great For Short Term UseI was glad to have this cane. I couldn't find a decent one in a store here for less than $30.I was glad to have it to transition from a walker. I had extensive back surgery 3 months ago. I was glad to walk at all.Hooray, I got better and don't need help anymore. If I needed a cane forever, I would get that expensive 4 footed one. I tried a cheap one and it was wobbly in a scary way.The one foot folding cane is not for all day every day. It isn't strong and secure enough for that. The gel handle is nice. The color is nice. I did not fold it back up. It might be pinch a finger. A weak person might not be able to fold it.It helped me get out and get better. A person has to walk. I'm happy for that. 3Sticky residue from labelsWho wants to leave the big flaming labels on a cane. But they use such strong sticky adhesive to put them on that when you remove them (with great difficulty by the way) you're left with a sticky mess that is almost impossible to get off without damaging the finish on the cane. How stupid. They do make glue nowadays that doesn't leave such a mess. But apparently this company wants to leave their advertising on the cane forever so you're a walking billboard. 1Comfortable grip and clear storage bag for the win on this cane!!Not easy to find a folding cane with a gel comfort handle at a great price. This cane fills the need perfectly. Handle is very easy to grip. Folds compactly and comes with a nice clear plastic case to store it. I am extremely pleased with this folding cane. 5Pretty much what you'd expect. Grip is still a bit hard. Red crackle is pink. For the most part this is pretty much what you'd expect. It's a fairly standard folding cane. I felt like the grip is still a bit hard, but I have to put more of my weight on it than you're really supposed to (these are for balance more than weight.) I wrapped tennis racket grip material around it and it's now as comfortable as any of them will ever get anyway. The grip felt too thin and hard on its own -- though less hard than wooden grips though obviously.I was kind of annoyed that the "red crackle" version isn't really the kind of dark crimson red the pictures show but instead it's really more of a dark pink. I don't generally care that much and it is a very dark pink that looks really close to red anyway (plus functionality matters much more than form in a product like this) but I would have liked one of the other colors better I think. 4Nonreturnable, Taller than described, Too tall for a 5'0" personThe description is incorrect, the shortest size is 33" not 32" and I'm really ticked that returns are not accepted (why do I always assume Prime orders are returnable? Ugh) I am 5'0" and I carefully measured, while barefoot, from floor to my wrist and I needed 31" so I figured I could make 32" work. When this arrived, I tried it while wearing 2" heels, the cane was still too tall for me. The gel handle is comfortable, and unfolding is super easy BUT folding it up takes a bit of strength so if you have muscle weakness or loss of dexterity this may be a bit dangerous. It nearly slipped out of my hand while I was trying to fold it back up & it would've hit my face if it had. Also, someone said it comes with a carrying case... it really doesn't, just a plastic sleeve that covers part of it, with a snap closure. I know I made a mistake by assuming this would work for me, so learn from my blunders: if you are under 5'2" or have muscle/dexterity weakness, this may be a bad fit for you. If you were hoping for a decent carrying bag, you're not getting it. If you're not certain this will work for you, remember there is NO returning this. Sigh. 1Excellent folding cane at excellent priceI have had one for a while and after of year of use bought another one to keep in my car. In the past two years I have gone through back fusion, torn Achilles, and going through therapy for my second knee replacement Lots of cane use in that period. Most folding canes are rated to 250 lbs., this one is rated at 300 lbs. I am only 225, but like the insurance of higher rating. It is attractive, adjustable, folds away easily, and has very comfortable grip. Wrist loop is built into the handle and the rubberized grip (besides being comfortable) means you can park the cane on a counter without it sliding off. 5Great Cane for TravelingI went on a cruise in late April and forgot to bring my cane with me. I had to get my travel agent to rent one for me that could be brought to the ship before we sailed. This was a $200 lesson learned. My travel agent suggested purchasing a folding cane to put in my luggage so that this will never happen again. I guess I must live in a cave because I didn't there was such a thing as a folding cane. I immediately went to my favorite place, Amazon, and sure enough I had many choices. This cane is pretty, with a beautiful design on it. It comes in a carrying case, but I won't even try to get it back in the case, very tight fit. It makes a small, square package that stays folded and fits in my luggage perfectly. It is sturdy and the handle fits my hand very well. My regular aluminum cane takes up so much room in the car because it doesn't fold that I am using this more and more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone especially as a backup cane, in the trunk of the car, in your luggage, anywhere that you might forget to bring one with you. 5Sturdy and lightweight. Perfect for traveling.Nice sturdy lightweight cane. The portion you grip is also very comfortable. I would have given it 5 stars if it were easier to fold and store. The flimsy plastic storage case will not last very long. I wish they would have included a nice carrying case. 4I like the cane. I hate the advertising on it that I can't seem to remove. The gel handle is excellent. It folds like any other folding cane. No problem there. Two issues:1. It doesn't come with a strap to KEEP it folded. I used a Velcro strap from another folding cane.2. I HATE the advertising stickers on this cane! One at the top and another at the bottom. I tried to peel them off. No luck. Heated them with hot water. No luck. Hair dryer. No luck. Next attempt, tomorrow, I'll use a paint-removing heat gun. If that doesn't work, I'll scrape them off with a razor blade and repaint the cane to cover the damage.Note to manufacturer: I buy a cane for me, not for you. I don't wish to be a traveling billboard for your products. 2
