Buy a better product elsewhereIts a seat... Barely. I'm a big guy, I'm right around 400lbs with a bunch of medical problems, including a broken back. Standing is painful so I thought I'd give this a try. Save yourself the time and money and go with a better product. As you can see in the photos the seat is splitting which is very painful because it catches my "leg". The only reason I have it 2 stars is because it technically holds me, but I rarely use it because of the splitting. I've actually only used it about 10 times, I usually just suffer and stand. I'll probably put some tape over it and use it. 2Adjustment pins rusting away to nothingOrdered and assembled the "bench with back". Everything seemed great. After about a year I noticed a stain under two legs. I inspected the legs and discovered two of the clip-pins which are used to adjust the heist had nearly rusted away. I estimate another 7 months and the legs would collapse if we sat on it. The legs and frame are aluminum but the clip-pins are just chrome plated steel - NOT stainless. 2Great product, poor instructionsThe chair is a great tool to use in the shower. Because I cannot stand the entire time I am showering, I wash and rinse off my body and then, I position myself in the chair so the water runs over my head and down my back so I can wash my hair. The chair is rated at 500 lbs and supports my 300 lbs with no difficulty. The only deficiency with the chair is the lack of clear instructions for the assembly. The instructions that came with the chair were extremely difficult to understand and the instructions downloaded from the mfr website, although considerably better, still lacked some clarity. For proper and safe assembly, there is only one way the pieces can fit together. The pieces will go together in more than one way, but if it is not put together correctly the holes will not lineup correctly to insert the fastening hardware. Through a few trials and a couple of errors, I was able to get it correctly assembled. 4unsafe product, poor qualityBariatric Heavy Duty Bath BenchThe plastic is spiltting in half already. The handles are only in the plastic part, and as such they have no strength. Although we don't use the handles, the plastic is splitting open at the seam that goes all the way around the outside. The legs are also very poorly designed because they constantly trap water inside. Even though the legs are aluminum, they will eventually corrode from constant water presence.Overall the chair is not wortht he cost. 2Sturdy base but flawed seatLegs are sturdy but seat is not designed well. The sides flare up with nothing supporting them and when you sit on it your weight pushes down on the sides and before long they crack and water gets in. There is no outlet for the collecting water so had to drill holes in the bottom for water to drip out. That solved the water problem but not the seat problem 2Missing parts make this impossible to put together.Not all the pieces were included with this bench--including the most important (and unavailable at the hardware store) center pin. As others have noted, the pieces were thrown into the box and it was a total mess when opened. The "instructions" don't include a phone number to call to get missing parts. We returned this and won't be reordering from this company. Free returns would be nice. 1Be careful. Pin in leg popped out.On the second use one of the push pins fell off causing leg to move giving way making me fall. And I weight 290 and thought this would more than hold me. Very poorly made. 1Best bench availableI purchased this particular bath bench because it has a cross bar on the legs. This gives this bench good stability and can handle more weight than the less expensive benches. I highly recommend this for shower safety. I purchased this after back surgery and it did the job without my feeling unsafe in the shower. Also, does not move around due to the better weight and rubber tips. 5You can tell that people who designed this chair are not people who need this chair.So far not real impressed with the packaging of assembly hardware and instructions. The screws did not match the quantities of the various size screws listed in the instructions, but enough to assemble chair with some trial and error. The types of hardware included are a poor choice. Instead of packaging with Allen head screws and an Allen wrench, the screws require a #2 Phillips screwdriver - not included. Phillips head screws are hard to get tight for a person needing this chair. Also, the nuts that tighten on the screws required a 10mm wrench also not provided with the chair. 3You ripped ME off and I am telling all I know how bad this bench isI purchased this seat on Sept. 14th, 2017 and the seat on it has already cracked open at the seam. There is NO reason as I am well under the weight limit on this bench.. 175 lbs UNDER in fact. There is no way this seat should be cracking open in just two months. We are being ripped off and Drive Medical should issue a recall on this sorry product. You ripped ME off and I am telling all I know how bad this bench is. I hope this helps someone before they waste their money! 1
