Saving my ears, one event at a time.Really saved my hearing at EDC. I put these in when I walked in the gate, and took them out when I left. I would have to take them out for a few seconds in the festival sometimes when I couldn't hear what someone was saying, but I could most of the time. When I did take them out, I was instantly ready to put them back in. They really work well, and you can still hear the music perfectly. 5Just Like Turning the Volume DownI bought these for me and my girlfriend to wear at concerts, but we aren't going to one anytime soon, so I tried them with a loud TV. It seriously just sounded like we turned the volume down to a reasonable level. If you've ever used foam earplugs, then you know that they muffle and distort audio. These keep the sound crystal clear while reducing volume just like they said they would. They are really small and fit almost hidden in your ear, which is good for not getting in the way or falling out, but they are kind of a pain to get out of your ears. That's really the only negative I can think of, but they work perfectly and were reasonably priced. Also, it's a positive if you feel like a lame wearing earplugs at a concert (you shouldn't btw), because it's hard to tell you are wearing anything! I'll buy this brand again if I ever lose them. 5The sounds were so clear,I bought these earplugs because my daughter plays in a band workshop every week in a small room. With so many instruments and amplifiers running, it gets loud. The sound doesn't seem to bother anyone else (maybe they're all mildly deaf), but it bothers us; so we made do with foam earplugs and wax earplugs, neither of which proved satisfactory. They didn't fit our ears and the sounds were so muffled, she had trouble knowing how she sounded in relation to the other musicians.DownBeats is incredible. The earplugs are small and inconspicuous. They fit my daughter and me perfectly and are comfortable to wear. The sounds were so clear, I thought they weren't working, so I took one out and instantly realized they were indeed doing their job. I could hear conversations, too. No muffling. It's like someone turned down the volume on the radio. I swear, I wish I knew how these work.I bought the purple case for my daughter and the black case for me. If I lose my set, I'll come back to buy blue, because metallic purple looks so pretty. 5Effective, not distracting, low profileI use these in one of my fitness classes where the teacher plays music very loud. They definitely work to reduce the sound to a more comfortable level. I have found that I can still hear people talk, so that is good too. They fit comfortably in my ear. They are certainly noticeable but not at all distracting. I also like that they are low profile, being clear and fitting pretty far into the ear, so it's not obvious I'm wearing ear plugs. I highly recommend these for instances where you want to just cut the sound down a bit. I could see where certain people would want more sound to be blocked, but these are perfect for my needs. 5If you speak too softly/ mumble this is the product for you!I have not used these in a concert setting. I blew out my eardrum in 2007 so whenever I speak out loud to me it sounds like I'm yelling but In reality I'm mumbling. I discovered after an ear infection that plugging one of my ear actually muted my voice so I didn't sound like I was yelling since I couldn't hear myself speak but would actually project my voice louder so people can hear me speak at a normal volume. I use this every day! I literally can't hear myself talk out loud so it's great because I now annunciate and project my voice and thats important in my job working in customer service. Highly recommend for people who have issues with speaking too softly. 4Small and discrete, great for sound sensitive people! For someone with sensitivity to noise, these are a lifesaver. I haven't used them for a concert but I find them helpful in crowds or noisy places. I even wear them at home to save my ears from my screaming parrots and to reduce ambient noise. For people with ADD or on the Autism spectrum such as myself, these are very helpful in reducing the volume but not isolating you from your surroundings. I use them in the cafeteria at work when eating lunch, they drown out some of the background noise but I can still talk to my friend and hear her when using them. They don't stick out from your ear very far and from the front you can't even tell I'm wearing them. They are very discrete. I like the little case they came in as well. I have small ear canals so these are a tad bit big but they still fit snugly enough to work well. I wish they were offered in different sizes. Overall I love these. 5Cool case, plugs not great for helmets. These arrived on time, packaged well. The container with screw top is cool, and the little clip attaches to my motorcycle's tank bag zipper, so ear the plugs are really accessible, even when I'm ready to ride. I was hoping to find reduction in white noise inside my helmet, that didn't interfere with hearing my gps directions in my helmet comms. I was interested in this product because of the promise of moderate noise attenuation -- old school foam plugs reduce by 30bB, whereas these were more like 15ish.The ear plugs themselves are awkward to put into my ears, particularly with medium-long nails. The shape of these is like a teeny tiny umbrella. You hold the little post between your fingers and insert the cup portion into your ear.I bought them to combat the mostly white noise that comes with long distance motorcycling, as I'm close to heading out to ride parts of Route 66.What was the biggest disappointment is with my helmet on, the wind noise actually transfers from the helmet, to the ear-plug "post", magnifying the wind noise with an odd thumping sensation, much like when someone opens the back windows of the car on the freeway. I literally pulled over on the freeway shoulder, took off my helmet, and yanked out the ear plugs -- threw them into the garbage when I got home! I've gone back to the old school foam plugs to cut white noise, but keep them in the container that came with this purchase. I wasn't happy, but my use was specifically for motorcycling. They may work for you if you're not planning on utilizing them with a helmet. 1DownBeats all the way!I wanted to buy a good pair of ear plugs for attending concerts and live shows, which I do frequently. I was torn between these and the Etymotic Research ER20-SMC Plugs so I ordered both. They are very similar especially in terms of sound quality (most won't notice a difference, although I do believe I prefer the DownBeats sound-wise,)but the DBs are far more comfortable in the ear. I recently went on a trip and couldn't find my DBs, so I took the Etys and also realized that they are even more uncomfortable when laying, unless you sleep on your back. I prefer the case on the Etys as it opens and closes quietly, but performance and comfort are the most important qualities in ear plugs. My friend also tried both and prefers the Etys, but only because he fears the short DownBeats will get stuck somehow. Ha. 5Earned 5 stars right outta the package!!Just got these delivered on the weekend and sure glad I have them today! Was a bit skeptical but figured I would see if they helped my misophonia. As soon as I walked in this morning and heard an incessant, sharp beeping in the computer room (very near my desk) I popped these little beauties in and have actually been able to completely ignore the beeping. Also, loud voices of my co-workers are much easier when I have these in. They have saved the day and if I write a review, you know they are amazing!!I actually can still use the phone with them in, I can answer those sitting nearby and best of all, I'm not banging my head on my desk because the beeping has been going all day.I'm not saying that I couldn't hear the beeping at all, but the volume is much, much, quieter and very easy to ignore. 5Good noise reduction and fits smaller ears comfortablyI am an orchestral musician and use ear plugs almost every time I play with a large ensemble. I have had trouble finding earplugs that are comfortable-I think my ears are a little on the small side. I have used Etymotic earplugs in the past, and am still very happy with them, but I was looking for a lower profile option, which is why I tried the Downbeats earplugs.I also tried the new etymotic earplugs with the shorter stem, and found them very uncomfortable (too large and with a sharp edge), and the eargasm high fidelity earplugs, which felt way too big in my ear. I then found the eargasm smaller ears version, which I am pretty happy with.Overall, the downbeats are more comfortable than the eargasm smaller ears earplugs, but the eargasm are a little easier to remove from my earThe etymotic with the longer stems are the easiest to place correctly in my ear and remove, and are about the same comfort level or slightly more comfortable than the downbeats, but the long stem can be a problem depending on what you want to use them for (higher profile, the stem is uncomfortable to sleep in or have headphones on over top of-I know that sounds weird to have headphones on top of ear plugs, but in places like planes that are very loud, I have to raise the volume of my iPod in order to hear, but that passes the safe level, so if I want to listen for longer at the higher volume, I have tried it with earplugs underneath the headphones) 5
