Reasonably priced, comfortable everyday socksMy mom is used to buying her special socks at Walmart for much more money per pair. These are a little thinner than the ones she s used to but she really likes them. They re comfortable support but not too tight (on plus size legs). She washed them in a normal warm water load and hung them to dry because they air dry quickly and they maintained their shape and support. She would buy them again. 5Great socksMy, my these tube socks rock. If your a diabetic you cant go wrong here. They are well made. People on here saying there thin a cheap...NO WAY IS THAT STATEMENT CORRECT. I will be buying more. Now that said. The price is at its max I would pay. 23.00 is a fair price. But that's it. Yes you get 12 pair. If you have neuropathy buy them you can't go wrong. 5Good overall - my new dress sock for this big guy.I am not diabetic, but I am a big guy and lift weights as well and was tired of my ankles being cut off - causing pain and circulation issues. Also the constant falling down of my dress socks. FYI - I have 9.5 inch ankle, 18.5 inch calf, and 20 inch rise from foot to back of knee. It is hard to find decent dress socks for bigs guys - aren't all this crossfit people having issues finding socks for their muscular calves? .... So the pros of this sock are 1) Good Price (large calf -diabetic socks are horribly expensive but not these) 2) Fits me - they are very long and they really do stay up all day 3) generally comfortable. The Cons 1) Fish net construction on top after the solid fabric foot part - the upper part expands using an open weave - really open - like black fish net stockings on a gal. It does not bother me too much as these are hidden under my dress pants mostly. However when I cross my feet at work a "small" less stretched portion of the fish net becomes exposed from under my slacks but its not much or the worst part of the fish net experience (thats up at my calf) 2) I have had some minor indentations near the top of my calf from both the fish net and the top band - leaves marks, but its nothing painful or hurtful like standard socks cutting off my ankle. These will be my new standard for work. May get some white crew socks for shorts and workouts. 4These used to fit my giant calves, but now they barely go high enough to try...I ordered size 13-15, and the packaging said 13-15, but the last two or three times I ordered these socks they fit. I haven't changed. The socks clearly have.I think it's shameful that a company that serves diabetics's specific medical needs would pull a stunt like this. If I could find someplace to contact the company I'd be open to discussing it, but this is the only way I can communicate my disappointment. If you're an unusually big guy, these are not the socks you need. Not anymore. 2Comformable but low durabilityThese socks are very roomy, and can be worn despite significant swelling in the legs. They are fairly comfortable (especially in hot weather), though not very well padded. The problem is that they wear out extremely fast. I generally got about three wearings out of them before damage was apparent. The only saving grace for these socks is their low cost compared to other options. 3Pretty good, but waiting to see how they hold up...These socks are 80% cotton and 20% nylon which gives them a "harder" feel than all cotton, but perhaps added strength. The sizing is a bit on the small side. I wear a 10 1/2 - 11 shoe and these fit, but snugly. They claim to fit size 12...that might be a bit tight, I would guess. They are comfortable and I love the over the calf length. They are quite thin, however. Almost like mini-fishnet stocking. I may try to post a picture later so you can see. You can see your skin through the socks. At first this concerned me, but after wearing them awhile, I'm OK with it. But some might not be.They feel very light and I am concerned as to how they will hold up. That is, will the toes or heels wear out quickly? Only time will tell. They are also a bit expensive, in my opinion, but maybe worth it if they hold up. I will come back and update this review once I have more experience with them. Having worn them for two days, they were very comfortable and the quality seems good. But the material may well give some pause as it is not like the normal cotton socks we are all used to wearing.I am giving 3 stars for now ("OK") but will come back and revise my rating once I have more time with these.Update 11-19-2012: Raised rating to 4 stars. These get a little softer with washing and they seem to be holding up fine (so far, anyway). 4Absolutely !!GREAT!! SocksI like high socks. And especially when wearing my big boots.Problem is, every "boot sock" I have purchased is WAY too tight on my fat legs, and I end up having to cut slits in the top of them so as to not cut off circulation in my legs and to my feet, which are plagued by neuropathy.I have purchased other Diabetic socks, but they were shorter, and did not last very long...maybe a year or so. Those were expensive, too. Nearing the $10 per pair pricetag. Then, I found these on Amazon. With the price being about $2.50 a pair, I was skeptical, and I also wondered what their idea of "over-the-calf" would be.Well, ALL my skepticism went out the window 5 minutes after opening the package. The socks are nice and soft. They feel sturdy. They go CLEAR UP over my calves almost to my knee without a bit of struggle, and they do not cut off circulation. No more pulling out the scissors for every new pair of socks I buy.I have diabetic inserts in my shoes, so the comfort level of my shoes are great to begin with, but the soles of these socks give a nice added cushion for my feet.Being the type of sock these are, they are a loose weave. My legs are pretty fat...I am just under 300#...so when they are stretched out like that over my calves, I am able to see right through them to my legs. Not like fish netting by any means, but kind of like MINI fish netting. However, they feel quite sturdy, and I do not think this will be a problem down the line. I have run a few through the wash already, and they show no signs of losing their elasticity. Time will tell. But considering the 10 buck socks lasted only a year before falling apart, I have faith that these socks will be much better. If there is one area of concern, I guess it would be this. I sleep in my socks. With the socks pulled clear up, if you toss and turn a lot, they fit so closely, they do not just "bunch up" if they come down in the night. They roll down into a nice little TIGHT doughnut shape, which is not really painful to me, but is a little uncomfortable, and may give some circulation problems. This is MY problem, and not the sock's. But I thought I would mention it here. For my fellow diabetics out there who are searching for a decent sock without mortgaging the house, I believe your search is over.jonesey65244 5My diabetic father's favorite sockBought these for my father, who is always having trouble with his socks. He previously bought this brand of sock from a local store. They stopped carrying it in the last several months, so I came on here to buy them for him. They are advertised as "over the calf" crew socks but should really be described as "under knee" socks, as they are quite long. For my father that was even better. It was odd, though, as in the store when he used to buy these in person they were labeled the same way and were several inches shorter (a true calf crew length). They do, however, stretch out faster than they wear out. 5Great diabetic (over the calf) socksI've bought Dr scholls then they slowly disappeared. Thought I would try these. Thank you Dr Scholls for not having yours available. With these you get more socks for the $$. Very comfortable. Have been very durable so far. What I like the most is they go over the calf as advertised and they stay up all day.Hope they are available when I need to reorder. 5Was good at first, but wear out and can ripUpdate: Won't buy them again, they are not as strong as their dark counterparts. Rips to easy at the heel and some along the calf. Try to be careful to pull easy, but I think it is the laundry that weakens them, but the dark ones are going strong.Working out well, they do eventually bind a little at the top, but nothing like regular socks. Comfortable enough.Update:I've lost almost every pair to ripping at the heel and some along the side. I think the laundry weakened them, but my dark pairs have made it fine so I can trust only my dark pairs. 1
