Great product...bad packaging/handling from shipper.I love this product. it is the best vegan "marshmallow" on the market. I am a bit unhappy that two of the three packages came squashed and at the price you pay for this product, I expected much better packaging. I will reorder this product in the future, but may consider a different vendor.UPDATE: Three star reduced to one - this product when it arrives as it should is terrific; however, today 10/3/2016 it arrived with all three bags of vegan "marshmallows" smashed and looked yellow in color. I submitted for a refund, which was graciously handled.1ExcellentI'm vegan. I do remember what a normal marshmallow tastes like though. This is denser, but it is still fluffy. When you use it in s'mores, or hot cocoa, functionally it tastes the same, like whipped sugar. The one difference it is not *quite* as light and fluffy, they have a bit of heft in your hand, almost a cross between a standard marshmallow and salt water taffy, somewhere in the middle of that consistency. Another good thing is if you like natural food, these are natural without vanillin (artificial) or artificial colors or flavors like standard marshmallows have.Hope that helps.5S'mores again!So glad we can have s'mores and roasted marshmallows once again after going vegan! While certainly not a health food, we enjoy these as occasional treats...which is nice since they are so pricey. They definitely roast up perfectly and make a lovely s'more. Even my mother, her turns up her nose at nearly all food labeled "vegan," said they were good!5Just like the regular ones, only a bit smaller.I married a vegetarian and she doesn't like the regular ones, so I was fine with trying these. They are just as good as the regular ones for roasting. Now, I'm a patient guy and a veteran marshmallow toaster when it comes to getting these things a golden brown and they responded just like any other. The s'mores came out delish (make sure you start with slightly warm chocolate, otherwise it just doesn't get gooey enough. Couldn't tell the difference. Now, I would have given 5 stars if (A) they tasted BETTER than the originals or (B) they were the same size. They're a bit smaller and just as good. That's all you need to know to make your decision.4A Very Good Non-GMO Marshmallow -- 2nd only to HomemadeMy reason for choosing these was that I keep kosher (according to Torah, not according to rabbinic judaism)--because the perversion of DNA is an abomination in the Torah, genetically modified organisms are not food. (All food is kosher because, if it's not kosher ["acceptable"], then it cannot be called food.)This product hits right on the money by being not only vegan but also non-GMO.In comparison to "conventional" brands (those that use GMO ingredients), they are a little less fluffy in their chew, and a little denser than the conventionals; but they melt like the conventional ones and the flavour profile seems identical to me.Now, of course, they aren't as wonderful as homemade (America's Test Kitchen has an amazing recipe and video on YouTube for marshmallows, which you can also make kosher by using non-GMO ingredients and grass-fed beef-only gelatin), but I will definitely refill this order once these run-out if I am not inspired to make my own.4Hooray! No gelatin!So these are either great or they kind of suck. It's sort of a gamble. When I purchased these in a store, they were excellent. When I had ordered them, they arrived half melted and gross. That could be a shipping issue, that could be a product issue. They function just like any non vegan marshmallow, so you can toast them, eat them, or melt them down and use them for cooking. I'm not vegan, but I am vegetarian, so I avoid gelatin at all costs. My girlfriend is vegan (I am not) and I needed to make her a cake or some desert you can put candles in for her birthday... I decided rice crispy treats was the way to go after I found these on amazon. I was skeptical at first, I mean vegan marshmallows? Really? Well it turns out standard marshmallows contain gelatin and for vegans that is a no no, but these Dandies pass the vegan test as far as ingredients go. I bought the 3 10oz packs and they came super fast but that's because I have Prime. Anyways, I opened a bag and did a quick taste test. Size, texture, shape and believe it or not taste all matched that of a non vegan marshmallow. I was impressed. On the bags there was even a recipe for rice crispy treats so not only did these taste awesome, but I didn't need to search online for any special vegan recipe for rice crispy treats it was right on the bag. Fast forward to the party, everyone loves them and they were a hit. They were so good I didn't even get to have any leftovers the next day... I absolutely recommend buying these for anyone, vegans and meat eaters cuz they taste great.5Best Tasting Mellows!Awesome, the product was great tasting and was exactly as advertised! And the shipping went well. All my marshmallows arrived safe and sound! This is an amazing product you don t have to give up marshmallows or that amazing taste you crave and not have to give up being vegan or vegetarian! Very highly recommend!Best marshmallows on the market!5Tastes and cooks over a fire exactly like a regular marshmallow!As vegetarians, after finding out that regular marshmallows contained gelatin (derived from animal by-products), we had to stop our tradition of roasting marshmallows at our (veggie) weenie roasts. The kids loved roasting marshmallows so I started looking for an alternative. I was very excited to find these vegan marshmallows, but a bit hesitant. The recipes I had seen online for vegan marshmallows didn't look like regular marshmallows and many said not to roast them over a fire. However, after reading some positive reviews, I decided it was worth a try. Tonight we had a weenie roast with veggie dogs and marshmallows. I really could not tell any difference at all! These vegan marshmallows even brown and burn just like the regular marshmallows. They were a big hit with everyone - children, adults, and one senior were present. If you are vegetarian/vegan, you can have marshmallows again!5
