Very uncomfortable.Very uncomfortable. Can't understand how anyone could write a good review of this product. I used the 18" and it covered the seat well but it is so uncomfortable, it is causing more anatomy problems than I had before. It definitely wasn't worth the money, time, or pain. 1A necessity for those with sit bone pain ,painful hemorrhoids , or a rectal tearI found this most helpful for orthopedic pain in the lower back and butt ( sit bones )In order for it to be helpful for pain from a tear I needed to turn the cushion front to back instead of sideways .It seems a bit hard and takes a bit to get used toLooks good with the cover so it is not so obvious you are having a problem but the cover is a bit taut in the center where I wish it had a bit more giveThe cover makes it possible to take it with you it you are going out and will be seatedI would recommend this to someone else 4Comfortable only for short sessionsI bought this pad to provide relief for my perianal area, sitting on regular surfaces was providing too much strain to this area which was already sore making for some uncomfortable sitting situations. At the time I bought this product I had been bedridden for weeks, and spent the majority of each day sitting up in bed, and planned to use this donut in bed.This pad is quite firm and gave good lift for my butt, and the hole in the middle was perfect for giving my sore perianal area a breather.It provided comfort for a day, but after that I noticed my tailbone starting to be sore, and the more I used this product the more my tailbone hurt. The support for my weight had gone from the center of my butt, to the back of my butt, square on my tailbone which was resting on the donut.After a week of use I discontinued use of this product.It remains good for short sitting sessions, for a car ride or a movie, but not for an all day affair. 2Works great for a fractured tailbone...: )2 weeks ago I feel on the ice outside. I fractured my tailbone, and the pain from it is excruciating. I was unable to find a *comfy* position to sit comfortably. Each time I sat up in a chair or in bed, the pain in my Tailbone made me "wince" in pain.My Dr. suggested I get a Donut/Ring/Cushion to sit on, and it may help alleviate "some" of the pain.The first foam ring I purchased was from Walgreens. And, it was a fail as it was so tiny.Then, I scoured Amazon for an appropriate Donut Cushion, and found this. I ordered it on a Friday, paid the extra $$ for Next Day shipping..and received it first thing Saturday morning.I like that it comes with a removable cover, that is washable. But, most of all I like the fact that this Donut Cushion "fit" appropriately when sitting, and really did help with some pain control.I use it in a "straight back" chair (a chair that "leans back" is a no-no for tailbone fractures). And, I use it in my bed when sitting upright.It just helps as it should, not all the pain is eased..but for what it does ~ I was able to relax a bit more & have better pain control.I would definitely recommend this Donut Cushion for anyone suffering from a Fractured Tailbone, and even a sprained one. You can also place this in your carseat when driving, and it helps give relief.***** Comfy Stars for this. :) 5Ordered one and Ordering Another!Cushion is just the right firmness and removable cover is great. I weigh ~200 lbs and the 18 inch is very comfortable for me. I tried it in my truck and I love it so much I'm ordering a second one to keep in the truck. I also used it at Grandsons baseball game and made those metal bleachers very comfortable. 5What a Relief! Wow!I didnt realize how much relief this thing would bring. I was having some issues and my oh my this eased up the area perfectly.It does however add a little pressure to my thighs may be because how i am sitting but I can now sit for longer periods than before.There was however one bad thing about this, the NASTY odour. MY WORD i mean NASTY. Today it went from Bad to HORRIBLE. I decides to take it out of the case and spray it with Lysol. So far, the smell is gone! yay for that. Apparently i read in another review that is the Flame-retardant... and can be carcinogenic... /O_o. Yea... I'm not sure about that but I know the bad odour is gone so I'm happy.If you are in for a good affordable ring/donut cushion, buy this! I bought a rubber one and I never got to use it due to manufacturer defects. So i opted for this and it works!Follow up 30/4/2012: been using this daily since the date of this review... up to now it has stayed in shape and still works the same. Great product!26/12/2012: Thankfully i do not need this product anymore but up to this day it is still in the same shape! 5My miracle cushion for tailbone painI purchased one of these and love it so much that I've ordered a second one, so I can keep one at home and one at work.I have severe tailbone (coccyx) pain all the time when I sit, due to an oddly shaped and previously fractured tailbone. I also have degeneration in my lower spine from arthritis.I've tried many different brands of the slanted coccyx pillows with the cutouts in the back, and none quite did the job. I found myself sitting on two or even three of those at a time to stay out of pain.But this donut shaped pillow is PERFECT. My tailbone doesn't hit ANYTHING when I sit on this, and I stay pain-free while sitting (something I never thought would be possible again). It is firm, but not too firm. And it is precisely the right size and shape for me. For the sake of having a reference point, I'm 5'9", female, in my late 30s, and quite thin (I weigh 136 pounds, which is light for someone my height).This pillow does NOT compress down when I sit on it, unlike the many slanted foam pillows I've tried over the years. It holds its shape and form and depth.I HIGHLY recommend this pillow. 5I was told that sitting or driving a car would make it worse. I researched ways to avoid putting pressure on my derri re and found this item on Amazon. I ordered one and it worked so well I eventually ordered two more so I had one for the house, one for the car and one for work. I would say it mitigated my nerve symptoms by about 50%. It comes with a discreet navy blue cover that covers the opening of the "doughnut" so it's not so obvious what you're sitting on. I even take it with me to restaurants and movies, etc. the one place it doesn't work so well is in a booth. Much better at a table with free standing chairs. The ring is pretty firm and I've had no problems with it "crushing down" when I sit on it for extended periods. The price and quality of construction were much better than anything I had seen at local superstores or drugstores. I would recommend it to anybody. 5Blue cover over bigger, 18" cushion -- just what my PT ordered.I had used a smaller ring [oval shape] for many years; the white cover collected lint and dirt from clothing, needed frequent washing. This BodySport ring has a blue cover, seems easier to maintain -- but the extra 2 inches is much more comfortable and fits the seat of my chair. Before writing this, I ordered another for the car. My tailbone [sacrum] has become "silent." 5Best Product For My IssueHemorrhoids. Have lived with them for a few years but for some reason went way out of control recently. Probably due to my job (IT in a computer chair 10 hours a day), a little added weight, and some dehydration. I was in a real situation where the OTC creams/ointments/pads were not working AT ALL it seemed. I've read the horrors of trying to get them surgically removed, especially because you have to make a case for it in my HMO. Understanding that I spend 10 hours a day in a computer chair, this was one of the items I bought. I also bought ANUICE, a cryogenic solution with good reviews, however I have yet to use.So the cushion arrives and I place it in my work chair. At this point I had actually stopped using any creams or ointments and just used pads at home for cleansing/etc. Over a one week period, no creams/ointments, using this cushion at work, two baths with a bath salt (Epsom with Eucalyptus and Spearmint Oils from Walmart), and Equate version of cleansing pads (Witch Hazel) when at home, no more itching, bleeding (it was pretty bad), and the swelling went way down. I am certain that this product helped a lot and also serves as preventative as I will probably be in a computer chair for the rest of my career.It is a doughnut cushion, which I think is actually a good shape for what I was dealing with. It did take a day or two to get comforable, but that would probably be the case with any product I have to sit on all day. I am a larger person (230-240 pounds) and it does seem like at some point I will "wear out its effectiveness" with daily 10 hour sittings, but when that happens, I will just get another. Discreet enough that noone asks any questions about it. 4
