Customer Reviews

Great compression socks!!!I am not a diabetic but I ordered these because I read the other reviews about how they help achy tired feet and legs. IT IS SO TRUE!!!! When I ordered these, I had just started my job that had me on my feet thru the entire shift, running here and there. By the time I would get home in the evening, I wanted to crawl thru the door because of the pain in my feet and legs. The very first time I wore these I noticed the difference. Halfway thru my work day and not an inkling of pain anywhere. They are just tight enough and I can wear them all day long. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because mines have been hard to keep "bright white" like they were when I received them. I would recommend these for anyone with tired, achy feet and legs, or anyone who stands or walks for long periods of time. You won't be disappointed if you purchase them from Amazon. They are cheaper than regular TEDS compression socks, and a lot more comfortable. Try them for yourself! 4Love the fitLove the fit. These fit much much better then other wicking compression socks i've worn as my feet are a size 9 but my large calves make me have to wear an xl. These are a much better fit for smaller feet with big calves! They're still stretchy enough to fit a much longer foot, but the foot portion is very stretchy and compact making it so the heel doesn't have to get pulled all the way up past my ankle to fit. 5Need to offer another larger size!Work when my husbands legs are not too swollen! He is a larger man 6'2" and big boned so would have been nice if the company offered one more larger size. That seems to be the largest size that any company sells. Maybe a big and tall company sells something larger. Anyway he is not wearing them because they are too tight right now and have caused sores on his ankles. 4Very good stockings.Over all very good stockings. I will order more as I must wear them daily. It is nice that they come in. Black, white, and khaki. I have been wearing compression stockings daily since 1978 and I find these to fit properly, do what is needed per my podiatrist and cardiologist, and are comfortable. Our clothes washer has a "hand wash" cycle which when followed by the dryer's delicate (or whatever it is) setting seems to keep the stockings elasticity. Very satisfied. 5Excellent value, good quality.I've got various kinds of compression socks and stockings and calf sleeves to help control lower leg edema. (Even without an edema problem, I've learned that compression socks improve comfort for long days on your feet, long days sitting, or leg work outs running or walking for hours.) Most of my mine are Sigvaris, which are good quality and work very well, but are fairly expensive. Thought I'd try a less expensive brand this time. After wearing once so far, I'm pleased with the Ames. While it's slightly less robust than a Sigvaris, at less than 1/3 the price, it's an excellent alternative. A nice plus for me is the khaki color, not available with Sigvaris. Haven't washed 'em yet, but so far I'm pleased! 5Thick and comfortable, length just rightOf the 5 or so pair of 20-30mm Hg compression socks I have tried. These immediately became my favorite. The size L fits me perfectly. My measurements are 10-10.5 ankle, 18-18.5 calf, and 18-18.5 knee. On most size charts the ankle and calf measurements fall in size L while the knee height suggests XL. I took a chance on these in size L and they fit perfectly. I like the extra thickness compared to almost all others. I have always worn Gold Toe Fluffies, and these have a similar thickness. With other brands I have to wear the Fluffies over the compression socks or my shoes are too loose! I am also a fan of Coolmax so these are a triple win for me! 5PHYSIATRIC EVALUATIONI am a retired MD-physiatrist. I have prescribed compression hose for vascular, neurological, orthopedic, and burn-related conditions hundreds of times over a 30-year career. I am also a patient and have relied on these stockings for the past 10 years. This review is independent. I receive no monetary gain from any source related to these products. I do this solely for the public benefit. All of these stockings are knee-high. Thigh-highs are always the best, but patient compliance is terrible. I never wanted to wear them, and so I could not expect patients to do so.These are all rated 20-30 mm of mercury in compression despite listings describing them as anything between moderate and extra-firm. Any product with less may be nice for comfort or cosmesis but will do little by way of therapeutic intervention.RATINGS and observations:1 JOBST for men knee high closed toe compression stockings, extra firm legware for all day comfort for males, with odor control technology. The gold-standard but like gold, very pricey. Best fit and function. Best quality. Very plain in appearance. They need a hike-up once during the day. No loss of function after 10 uses and washes.2 FUTURO restoring dress socks for men, firm compression, over the calf.Definitely #2. One quarter the cost of Jobst. Good fit and function. Good quality. No daily hike-up needed. Nicer appearance than the Jobst. Excellent wear-and-tear. I used 3 pair continuously over one year in clinic and noted no loss of function. My neuropathic symptoms resolved over a few weeks of use. Of interest, Amazon s rankings wherein the Physix below were rated #1 did not include the Jobst or Futuro.3 GO2SOCKS compression socks for men women nurses runners medical stocking maternity travel.Inexpensive. Can cause discomfort if not donned optimally but good therapeutic compression. Good quality and daughter-impressing appearance. No daily hike-up. No loss of function over 10 uses.4 AMES WALKER AW styles 120 125 150 compression knee high socks.Inexpensive (all are compared to Jobst). Excellent compression but painful after a few hours use despite adjusting fit. Good quality. Look like P.E. socks. No daily hike-up. No loss of function after 10 uses.5 PHYSIX Gear compression socks for men & women graduated athletic fit for running, nurses, shin splints, flight travel & maternity pregnancy.Definitely NOT #1. Inexpensive. Good fit but non-therapeutic compression. Nice appearance which with ease of donning undoubtedly accounts for their popularity. No daily hike-up. They give less compression after each wash. I cannot recommend these as a physician because of non-efficacy.6 COPPER Compression Socks for men & women.Cheap. Poor fit and little function. Poor quality. OK appearance. Hike-up N/A because they do not cover the calf with initial donning. They become looser with each wash and are no better than regular socks in function. Not recommended. 3Medium is quite tight for my men's size 9 feet; but calf size is also a consideration when orderingThese really do the job. A medium is quite tight on my men's size 9 feet, but that's a good thing in my opinion. Compared to Vitalsox Performance & Recovery (VT1211), the Ames are significantly tighter around my feet, and slightly tighter around my calves. They are also slightly less dry. If that's not a problem for you, then not to worry. Vitalsox are made with "drystat polypropylene" (from the label) which does seem to be a little dryer. The dp material does slide on a little easier. The Ames sock has a very slight terry-like pile on the inside of the foot. This isn't much cushion, but I guess it may absorb more moisture compared to the Vitalsox. But my feet stay pretty dry, so I can't really speak to that.I will say that the pile gives the Ames product more resistance when putting it over your feet. Since the Vitalsox product is smoother inside, you can pull it over your foot easier, whereas you have to work with the Ames sock a bit more (but it is also tighter, which is probably contributing to this as well). As for tightness, keep in mind that tightness will depend on your actual foot AND calf size. Unlike regular socks, there are actually two body metrics involved in sizing a compression sock. Alas, foot size is the only way they are produced and sold, on the assumption that when it comes to calves, one size fits all. I have lean, muscular calves, and they could be a little larger and the socks would still fit. However, if you have "bowling pin" calves, you may need to go to a larger size sock to be comfortable. My advice is to order one pair to ensure a good fit. Trying different brands is also smart if you are into these things for the long run. They're spendy, and given the nuances of foot/calf fit, it may pay to experiment before committing to one product. Finally, I like that this product is all black. Vitalsox is a great product as well, but it's emplazoned with chevron-like pattern that runs enough above the foot to be visible below the trouser cuff when crossing my legs. I don't like that when wearing them with casual pants (neither product is made of a dressy enough material to wear with suit slacks). Vitalsox looks better because of the material, but the pattern is a deal-breaker in formal settings. 5Great....but get the right size! These really are great for me. Much more comfortable than expected. I wear a size 13 Adidas Athletic shoe. They fit perfectly. What puzzles me and I feel sorry for the people who are having size problems with this. I have only bought the white before. Never the black. What puzzles me is that there is a DETAILED, EXREMELY, EXTREMELY DETAILED sizing chart on the back of with package? Ankle, calf size...blah.I would have posted it myself but it tote apart the plastic bag that they came in? I'll have them in a few days, and if nobody else does I will post the chart myself. 5Great for nurses!Upon the advice of a woman who had been on her feet in the Nursing profession for 30+ years, I never hit the floor ONCE without compression socks/stockings.They REALLY make a huge difference. On days that I am in dress clothes instead of my scrubs and compression socks, I can really tell the difference in how tired my legs are.I have two pair of the black Coolmax Support socks; one to wash, one to wear. They are thicker than a woman's athletic sock, and are certainly a SOCK, not a stocking. Just FYI on that. They fit in my New Balances and Rykas just fine. They do make my beloved Danskos tight. Looking into having those shoes stretched a bit.Happy. :-) 5
